Jeff Blashill is doing what Steve Yzerman expects, and that is why the Detroit Red Wings have not made a change behind the bench even as they have descended to the bottom of the NHL standings....

“The one thing with Steve is, Steve does whatever Steve thinks is right,” Blashill said Friday. “When we talked last summer, he was clear to me to make sure that we keep holding our players accountable and we make our young players, specifically, better, but really the whole team. That was the message. It wasn’t necessarily going to be judged on wins and losses, it was going to be judged on those things.

“Steve is real clear about what he expects and I get good feedback from him in terms of where we stand.”
