"Why He Might Be Traded"

02/21/2018 at 11:11am EST

from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,

Forward Gustav Nyquist

2017-18 stats: 16 goals, 12 assists, 28 points in 59 games.

Why he might be traded: Nyquist could help a team in need of an offensive boost. He’s on pace to top 20 goals this season, and has twice in his career flirted with 30 goals. On a better team, he could return to those latter numbers. He does have a year left at a salary cap hit of $4.75 million, so the Wings might have to retain salary to move him. Nyquist also would have to approve a trade as he has a no-trade clause.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
