Voox? Line ‘em Up

You want stress? We’ve got it, brother. And we’ve got it on every front.  Injuries, whiskey, rusty goaltending and a very dangerous reality tied to road sadness.

If the playoffs started today…golf would follow and it would follow quickly.  Lidstrom’s alleged “bone bruise” is reason enough to sink us early, but when you consider everything else providence has foisted upon us and ten games seems like a split second.  I’d venture to say that this is the first time any of us have looked at a March schedule and wished for another dozen or so games.  The mood in the Hasek is sour, my friends.

Ten games isn’t enough time to fix the wrongs that should have been addressed on February 28th. Ten games isn’t going to cure the worst power play we’ve seen since pre-Yzerman.  Ten games won’t teach this team how to win on the road.  And ten games might not even be enough time to remind the Wings how invincible they were for 23 home games that seem like five years ago.

But there is light, oh yes there is.  A glimmer, faint and flickering. But a light it is because there is still all that teasing, tantalizing talent.  A turnaround can happen. Health can improve.  Somehow, some way, the pucks can go in when they should.  It can happen because we’ve seen it. We’ve seen them at their best.  But, holy hell…it’s got to happen soon.

Confidence is a wacky, dangerous motherfucher of a drug.  It’ll make your head spin and give you wicked, menacing powers when you’ve got it.  But, when it’s gone…drink up and drink early.  This team has got to find it before the Stress-ex begins.  It’s going to take a trigger. A game for the ages, a wreck the season of a “rival” type performance.  Not a gimmick, but a statement. Not a shootout, dammit.  A win. Something convincing and obscene.  A powerful, graceful, dangerous reminder of the possible.

It’s a Live Blog, bitches.  For all that is pure and holy in this disaster of a post trade-deadline freefall, it’s a Sunday Live Blog, a St. Patty’s Day Live Blog and a communal prayer to the adorable one that he finally lets our team come out and play.

What a fuchin joke. Imagine if Homer went in to Niemi like that? Would have been the quickest whistle of all-time.  Not to mention Kronner taking a headshot and Flip getting blatantly tripped.  There you happy refs? Congrats, Sharks win, they still won’t make the playoffs.

Looked like interference to me. Only to be called on Homer I guess.  Good effort tonight.

Now God has substantial leg injury, more tomorrow.  At best he may be able to return in good health for the first round of the playoffs.

Lidstrom is now farther away from returning than the day after his injury.

and so it has come to this…..set aside the cries for whirled peas, and hear the plaintive wail of a Wings fan…please, sweet baby Jeebus, let us capture home ice advantage against….the Prednecks.
