Videos- Quick Recap Detroit/Nashville

The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Nashville Predators 5-3.

Good team effort.

Detroit goals are below, team stats too.

added 11:12pm, from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,

The Wings began their 2019-20 season Saturday at Bridgestone Arena with a bold performance highlighted by their top young talent. The first line contributed four of the goals in the 5-3 victory over the Nashville Predators.

Tyler Bertuzzi and Anthony Mantha scored 71 seconds apart in the first period and assisted on each other’s goal. Dylan Larkin set up Mantha’s goal and scored in the third period, showing off his shot with a long-range rip. Mantha had a goal and two assists. Bertuzzi had two goals and two assists.

Watching the post-game; can we zoom out a bit and give Ozzie a bit more desk frontage?

Refs were trash. How do they miss 2-3 hits from behind and the super obvious goalie interference on Howie (Blashill challenged and won!)

THE CUP IS OURS !!!!!

oops sorry…its only one game..

some notes….

I love Nashville…its a beautifull city isn’t it ?

Only one line clicked tonight. When AA is back in the line-up things might be more interesting as Fil look like a 35 years old out there tonight…just like Nielsen.

Bert is player i said he is..a money player. Tonight he touch the puck twice..and scored twice.

On D we played well overall, Howard had a good game, he probably would like to see that third goal again but outside of that he was good.

So i hope we Don’t spoil that great opener by losing tomorrow at home…but that wouldn’t surprise me..

Great win great start….

Top line answered any and all questions last night.  Hopefully theyll be able to power through with teams keying in on them all season.

D-zone play by the defensemen was ugly.  They got bailed out a lot by the forwards, and obviously Howard worked his tail off.  Cholowski is just clueless in his own end.

The PP is way too predictable.  Good puck movement but they force a lot of shots because of the rigid design.

The refs are awful.  Always have been, always will be.  Worst officiated league in NA.

Good game and effort overall. Nashville isn’t an easy team to play against, they can come at you in waves and hem you in your zone with that active D. I thought for a team that really struggled in their own zone last year, Detroit looked better in that aspect.

Need to be better in the faceoff dots in keeping shots against down.

Really interested to see which Detroit team shows up tonight

I didn’t know there were questions about the top line, other than whether they would be detroit’s only productive line.

But yeah, I guess they did answer that…

My quick take from the arena:

- Glendening was all over the place in a good way. You could see why the coaches trust him so much. He works hard every time he’s out there.

- Hirose look out of place, not quite up to task. It’s only one game and he didn’t make any terrible mistakes but will need to show improvement to stay playing on the 2nd line

- Both Filpulla and Neilsson looked their age.

- I thought the defense played decent, not great. Nashville was a tough task and they did a good job of breaking up a lot of plays.

- Nemeth and Erne were impressive. Look like good acquisitions.

- I think the power play looks better. Much more puck movement and more focus on getting shots on net and traffic in front.

- The first line is fantastic. If Blashill messes with it for any reason in the next few games he should be fired on the spot.

- My wife, the passionate Nashville fan, was not too happy with me or the Wings. With Wings winning 11 of last 12 against Nashville she gets more than a bit testy whenever someone mentions it.
