Good link HandH.

“I’ve just got a lot of respect for him,” he continued. “He’s so good at sending his message in an honest way, but doesn’t cross the line or take someone’s confidence. Even when he’s telling you you did something wrong, he’s building you up.

Seems like the right temperament for a coach to have on a young, rebuilding team.

I agree on that comment. I met Jeff Blashill a few times, and he seemed very friendly. I’m sure it carries over to his coaching. grin

George Malik said Blash was very much easier to talk to than Babs, which probably wouldn’t have required much and probably isn’t as big a difference after several years as the HC and so many post-lost questions.  I met Blash and family at Comerica Park during a Tiger game just before the hockey season started his first season, and yes he was very friendly and outgoing at the time.  I took a family photo for him when they were all trying to fit into the picture.

Some fans have their favorite players and react badly if Blash cut their time or told the press about things that player had to improve on.  If the young players have such fragile eggshell minds they won’t make it in the league, and there was no indication they were as sensitive as the fans are.

Nobody’s saying his sister-mother and brother-father-cousin didn’t do a good job.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y.
