Oh the glory of a 3-0 start. Such warmth. So much frolicking. And coupled with our early success there was the joy of watching Pittsburgh struggle, sitting back and knowing with all the certainty that baby Jesus allows that with that defense they are very simply not going to do much when winter turns to spring.
For me, it always comes back to the Penguins. Always. I'm happy when they struggle. I just am.
But then last night happened, as we thought it might.
A trap game where they were dominated (again) by a mediocre (at best) team and you can't really put your finger on why.
Mike Green has done absolutely nothing to impress me through 4 games. Sorry, but the same can be said for Brad Richards.
And Jimmy Howard looked like ass. Defend him if you want and I've seen some commentary elsewhere that points out "anyone who knows hockey knows you don't blame Howard for those goals." I guess. I mean, I don't know hockey all that well but I think I know that when pucks hit your pads or your tummy or your forehead and then they bounce with great velocity toward places you don't want them to that's called rebound control and he doesn't have an ounce of it.
So. Tonight. Not the best time to be playing Montreal. Second of a back-to-back. Disjointed last night. "Fractured" according to Mickey (the minister? really?). We did not look good, not good at all. And on to play the hottest team in hockey.
Certainly this is a game the Wings don't win. Certainly 3-2 is where we'll be in a matter of hours.
Without question. Do it, Petr. Earn your job, young man. Earn that job.
