They chose elsewhere. It isn’t the end of the world. It’s not like it was the Wings god given right to sign them. Jesus.

Who cares about Minnesota.  They got better.  Good enough to make the playoffs consistently, sure.  Stanley Cup good?  Not so sure about that.

Nothing changed in Detroit with these signings.  Suter and Parise can be made up for by committee.  Do it Kenny.

Yea but Minnesota blows….... Plus the Wings are way more deserving, just because grandpa and grandma live in minny shouldnt mean you should be doomed there for 13 years. Suter and parise must have had a few to many bumps on the head last season.

Have fun with those jacked up TIX prices at the X because that’s just how Leipold rolls with a franchise whose debt/value is 53%.

Wings?  0%.

Well we needed Suter because he was the best AVAILABLE, but as I said a few weeks ago he’s not an elite #1 d-man which is what he’s being paid like. I actually would’ve preferred Parise at that cap hit over Suter any day.

Whatever.

I suppose Carle is the direction Holland has to turn. Doan and/or Ryan would be great but I’m not holding out hop that Kenny is going to make any “bold” moves.

Minnesota deserves some good fortune.  Lots of great fans there watching mediocrity for quite some time.  I like how they replaced Burns with Suter one year after picking up alot of assets from the Sharks.

This is a team that finished 30th in offense last season by a landslide. Defensively they were mid-pack (thanks more to their playing style then their actual personnel). Goal differential was second-worst in the conference. Shot differential was worst in the league. I’m pretty sure Corsi was worst, or close to it, in the league.

Minnesota was even worse than their record showed last year. Even when they were winning games, they weren’t playing well.

Even if you assume that the Wild were as good as their record indicated, and that Suter and Parise are each good for about three wins apiece, the Wild are still maybe 50-50 to make the playoffs.

Lol.  How’d Wisniewski work out for you guys?  Marc Methot?  Laughable.  We’ll see how tough you can talk when come next May, once again, the most exciting thing going on in Columbus sportswise is the Memorial Tournament.

@bezukov:  Looking at the Wing’s current lineup they’ll be teeing it up with the Jackets come April and yes we’ll still have the Memorial and you’ll still have lovely Dearborn. Oh btw, Methot was traded a few days ago.  Too bad you didn’t get him.  Would’ve been in your top pair with Kronwall.

Its bad enough rooting for a perennial loser.  It must suck having to preface every you say with an admission of that fact.  The Wings are gonna be fine.  Can we say that about Columbus I wonder?

Okay….not sure what we’re going to do on defense. Possible Karle? A trade for Yandle? Both? Defense is obviously our most glaring hole to fill, but I want to concentrate on the forward corp for the moment.
After picking up Samuelsson and Tootoo (seriously…still hard to accept that) we still need a scoring winger, and I really think that we need to target Semin. He is primed to explode in the right situation. He played really well with Datsyuk, and I’d love to see that trend continue. And really….he’s very comparable to Parise statistically:

From The Bleacher Report:
“In fact, Semin and Parise, who have each played seven seasons in the NHL, almost mirror each other statistically. Parise has totaled 194 goals and 216 assists for a total of 410 career points. Semin is right behind him with 197 goals and 211 assists, adding up to 408 career points. According to Hockey-Reference.com, Semin has created more goals and has a greater plus/minus than Parise, all while taking 300 fewer shots and averaging less time on the ice per game.”

He’s 6’2”...210lbs…is a right handed shot…and is putting up .87 PPG.

Parise is 5’11”....186lbs….shoots left….and averages .82 PPG.

How this is not a no-brainer escapes me…...

I know, I know….just raw stats. Semin has had some minor injuries and he is described as taking some games off. I’d like to see if that would change in our environment…...I think it would be a terrific pickup.

Who else are we going to grab? Shane Doan?
Really?

The Doan Bag and the Whistle Stop Kid on our team?
My head might just explode.

Let my dissection begin….

Ryan (and if we can’t get him, Semin)
Matt Carle.
Douglas Murray (San Jose is going to have to shed some salary to sign enough forwards, and they have Demers, Murray and Vlasic all coming up for renewal next year…plus we did them a favour with Stuart).

And you’re done.

I agree. I’ve always been ok losing out on Parise if we get Semin. I really wanted Suter though. I don’t know much about Carle. Hopefully we get Semin and Carle.

If no Semin, then hopefully Ryan. If no Ryan, then Doan. I’d like Nash too, but probably not what he would cost.

On D, if we miss out on Carle, we’re screwed in the short term. Unless they can get a deal for Yandle. But Yandle will cost a ton too.

I think with Lidstrom finally gone forever and for realsies, it will cause Kronwall to step up his game big time. He has it in him.

Next few days are critical. I’m the first to recognize that, right?!

Stuff like this is what makes other fans thing all Wings fans are entitled little babies, when it’s (I hope) only a very vocal minority.

I understand Devils or Preds fans being this angry, but they were never yours in the first place, so what gives Wings fans? Disappointed I get, but maybe they just don’t want to play in Detroit. Is that a crime?

And maybe I’m crazy, but that Minnesota line-up looks pretty solid to me. Weak on D, but they’ll be competitive and difficult to play against.

Posts like this are why Wings fans don’t care what other fans think.  Why do so many non-Wings fans feel the need to chirp in for no other reason than this? I don’t go around to the Pens blogs and complain about their fans, or to the Wild blog and point out how big the bandwagon has gotten, or to the Blue Jacket blog and point and laugh at their fan.

Garth, I get that…I really do.
I just think that he’s going to begin to decline….he has to.
By the time we could pick him up he’d be 37.

The Wings need to move in a different direction….IMHO.
