I can’t imagine (given how his play has been this year) that Nielsen centering Rasmussen is going to do Ras any favors…

In Ilitch related news…

from Louis Aguilar of the Detroit News,

An advisory group of Cass Corridor residents that meets with the Ilitch organization about its plans to overhaul the neighborhood around Little Caesars Arena says the four-year relationship has been marked by broken promises.

They were promised five new walkable neighborhoods filled with shops, restaurants and housing. What they’ve gotten so far, they say, has been traffic gridlock, 27 parking facilities — some taking up entire blocks — and fewer places to live.

The 15 residents of the Neighborhood Advisory Committee for the Arena District were appointed by City Council to be the voice of their neighborhood as the billionaire Ilitch family’s Olympia Development of Michigan attempts to develop 50 blocks of the neighborhood north of downtown….

“So now most of the time, the neighborhood is really kind of deserted,” McLeod said. “And then suddenly, when there is an event at the arena, there’s just a flood of traffic and we are just kind of trapped.”

Khan…

Blashill on Athanasiou: “He skated beforehand today. We’re hoping to get him into a full practice Wednesday, Thursday and have him ready for Friday. Obviously, he’s got o get through those two practices before we know for sure.”

At least Nyquist is on Ras’ line to feed a few passes to him.

The Wings let Flippula walk (i don’t believe Philly wanted to stay any who) and replaced him with Stephen Weiss. That went flop. Is Nielssen in the same category? I am not sure I am willing to go that far. He hasn’t been good but many of the elder forwards haven’t on the wings.

Blashill tells the gathered media he hopes Nielsen can play tomorrow but has not been cleared at this point.

Filppula left more money on the table with the Wings than he took to play in Tampa, though Tampa is state tax free.

I thought Neilson was pretty good the last 2 seasons, wasn’t a big stat earning, but good play on the ice, this season has been brutal though, we need him to turn it around.

Oh yeah, you right. Filly took 5 mill/season with TB. Weiss got 4.9M/season.  Hindsight and all that. But like I said, it seemed like Filly wanted out.

Our best line in the last game was Nyquist-Rose-Rasmussen according to Blashill, so let’s break it.

Replacing de la Rose with Nielsen to “get Nielsen going” would be a very Babcock/Blashill thing to do, TBH.

How about swapping Bert in for Helm so that Larkin can get a hand dragging around the anchor that is Anthony Mantha.
