That Was Nice…Back To The West

It's been exciting, this three game stint against the East. Everything we expected. A little rougher, a little more tense. A couple of patsies and a lay-down against the Big, Bad Bruins.

Glad you liked it.  Because here comes the same old, same old...Gary's Coyotes.

We know. Shane Doan makes mean faces.

It's a Live Blog and I'm late so get started.

Quincey is never going to score a goal; he’s the defensive incarnation of Samuelsson.

Actually, that’s going to be Babcock for me.

Aye, aye. Babbles has a bench full of guys that should be owning this game.

Aye, aye. Babbles has a bench full of guys that should be owning this game.

Problem is that Babs doesn’t coach to exploit the opposition weakness, he coaches to compete strength on strength. Often, the result is games such as we are witness tonight.

[unpopular conjecture]
The thing that gets me is this: Babcock plays who he has… however, he also has input regarding the roster makeup because he tells Holland who he will play.

In my opinion, Holland wouldn’t sign guys like Cleary and Samuelsson if Babcock didn’t say, “Medammit, I need those guys.” Tatar is a better player than both Cleary and Sammy, yet he’s in the press box; Nyquist is down in Grand Rapids because Babcock wouldn’t play him over some crusty, way-past-their-sell-by-date veterans. Hudler and FIllpula are great players, but didn’t “flourish” in Detroit because they weren’t utilized properly.

I know it’s not smart to second-guess the man behind the bench - I mean, he does have infinitely more coaching credentials that I - but come on, at some point you have to start wondering.

Not offside.  But not a surprising call given the game the linesmen have been having.

It’s not a matter of your credentials, you earned them as a spectator. It’s going from watching how Bowman deployed his players to Babcocks methods. We can compare. Then we are left looking at Babs going “WTF dude”.

The way Babs was fellating “Tipper” in his morning skate interview it makes one wonder if he isn’t afraid to beat the Great and Mighty Tip in a game.

Yes, that’s an exaggeration, but, fuch. I know it’s only early-October, but losing points like tonight’s can loom very large come early-April

Looks a lot like last year, the year before and the year before that.

There I feel better.

It’s one thing if they lost and at least looked competitive, but this is unacceptable.  No this doesn’t keep them out of the playoffs and yes it’s still only 4 games in, but how do you not show up for 2 of those 4 games.  Babcock has to do something before Saturday because there’s way too many guys that look lost and/or disinterested.
