“Tell Me Quick,” said Old McFee…Tell Me This Team’s Better Than That

Bullet Bob’s back to save us, because the adorable 8 pounder told me he would. Oh, the angst. If you’ve read the comments associated with last night’s Live Blog you know that the pitchforks are out. Heart, passion, give-a-shit…it’s all being questioned today. And the reasons are sound. If Detroit couldn’t get up for last night’s game, what else—short of the playoffs—is going to do the trick?
And where the Hell is Johan Franzen?
Son, you’re a rich man because Tick Tock Kenny Holland made a tough decision two years ago. He essentially chose you over Marian Hossa because you promised us all we’d get consistency. Not consistent awesomeness, just consistent really goodness. We don’t see it Mule. We’re not seeing it and now people are talking about lighting you on fire and putting you on somebody’s porch as a joke, hanging around to see if someone steps on you.
And people are wondering, typing things like the Wings need “fiery leaders” and “passion” and “Tahitian Hookers” and “more hunger”. The 19 are getting restless because losing is one thing, but appearing not to care too much about losing is a whole other deal.
You can blame our Uncle Mike, if you want. And you are. You can wonder what precisely the new assistant coaches are bringing to the table. But I’m getting a bad feeling that if there’s a lack of urgency in that room then the fingers need to be shifted from the guy with the good hair to the Perfect One. Professionalism and quiet confidence, a steady demeanor and leadership by example is all well and good. And that’s cool when it works.
But man, is there anyone wearing red and white who’s just a little pissed off about this whole thing? And if not? Who are the leaders who should be? Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Holmstrom….
Uh oh. Calling Dr. Cherry.
I’m not going anti-Euro on you. But, shit man. Someone needs to get pissed off other than us. Dig it? Like Seger said, all along that fateful coast, we’ve been silent like a ghost. But that silence is getting tougher to maintain. I’m just throwing that out there. Turning this thing into a Ship of Fools will take about one more loss.
It’s a Live Blog and the Hasek’s full.

nice play, do it again, keep the pressure on!
Go WINGS!!!

All of DET’s “leaders” are Euro’s. Maybe, because of their “upbringing”, they just don’t have that “hate to lose” mentality.
Just a thought.
Yeah, but our “good Canadian boys” ain’t exactly setting the league on fire, either.

True, Dougie - - but our Canadians aren’t the leaders on the team. I’m thinking more along the lines of the “C” or “A”.

so, a time out while the ref’s clean up the splinters. and the wild get the rest they needed after that icing.

You forgot the “Y”.

If I can’t sleep later on this evening maybe I’ll re-watch this game.

Maybe our Euros just need more “stridslystnad”.
That’s Swedish for “truculence”, according to Google Translator. Doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, does it?
No wonder they don’t have it, they can’t even pronounce it.

This.
Thank you.

Okie, I’ve been thinking about what you said. The Euro players may not have the fire and brimstone gene, but they might therefore not respond to that approach either. Now… maybe if Homer decided to chew everyone out… He has a right to be frustrated, I think.

Wow…. this period has lasted longer than a Catholic Mass. ![]()

It wouldn’t matter… nobody would understand him… for sure.

Wow I guess everyone has fallen asleep.
Ugh, nothing is working at all.

no luck…nothing working…at least we started to play a bit at the end of that period (looking for silver lining).
Posted by hockeychic from Denver, CO on 10/29/11 at 11:39 PM ET
Nice hussle the last minute of the period, but why not play like that more consistently throughout the period? (At work I have to pay $5 for Why questions)
Bert good for you getting in there and keep at it toward the goal.
Lets Go Red Wings!!!

Geezuz, that period was boring. Mickey talking about the knobs on goaltenders’ sticks.
Posted by MsRedWinger from Flori-duh on 10/29/11 at 11:42 PM ET
Since the edge of my seat has been unused so far tonight, I’m thinking the bed would be the best place to watch the end of this game.
Posted by dougie on 10/29/11 at 11:42 PM ET
Homer. Motivational speaker. He would need a translator. Could you imagine the sign language lady?
I would rather see a team funk in Oct than in Apr/May. Hopefully that is all it is. I have a hypothesis, but will wait at least until Thanksgiving to see if it is true.
If they would have played this way yesterday, it would have been a blowout.
Ya got 20 minutes to redeem yourselves. GET TO IT

DET won’t be getting any style points tonight - - but it would be nice to snag two for the win.

Amen!
And cigar_nurse, I’ll be very interested to know your hypothesis, when you are ready to share…
One more time: LET’S GO RED WINGS !!!!!

It is damn freaking ugly.
