Abel to Yzerman

Spokes In A Great Big Winged Wheel

I'm writing this at 0900 PST and the last thing George told me was that William Tell is in for the Strangler.  Note to Sobotka, reinforce the glass behind the nets...hell, ALL the glass.  A hail of rubber is headed your way.

I've decided Justin Abdelkader is my huckleberry today.  I have a feeling, an inkling really.  Something tells me this young man is going to be a wrecking ball of a force tonite in front of hockey's greatest fan base, in hockey's greatest arena, with banners hanging down and fat men with red cheeks sputtering while aging Fins, balding assholes and a pansy named Perry get angrier and angrier.

It's a big one.  A big fat one.

Hope you enjoyed your Saturday, used your time wisely to prepare yourselves for what's to come.  Somewhere, Larry Murphy is incoherent.  Somewhere closer Darren Helm is wondering what he's done to baby Jesus.  I keep waiting for the game that he's just, without fanfare, announced as a starter.  Surprise me.  I dig it.  Fairy tales, I know.

It's a Live Blog, you bitches.  Grab your seats.  Unwrap the cheddar.  Hide the pets. Warn the neighbors.  Keep your whore mouths shut unless the situation is clearly deserving.

LGRW. 15 to 12.

Can’t think of a player on the team other than Nyquist who has been anything more than bad-to-mediocre tonight.

I actually think that Gator played pretty well.

And, again, Nyquist the only player on this ice showing any kind of purpose whatsoever.

Thank God the braintrust kept him off the team for so long…

The thing with that call on Howard, is how many times have we seen a Wing (Homstrom especially) take way worse abuse from a goalie and not get a call.  A little push to the head and the whiney little Ducks need their 5 on 3?  That’s just stupid.

Dude, just stop right now.

Nobody’s scoring goals, the defense is hanging Howard out to dry and that’s the best you have?  Seriously?  Have you actually been watching this game?  Ducks are scoring because they’re left WIDE OPEN.

Also, look for Fil to sign with Anaheim if he doesn’t get his 5 mil here.  Especially if Salami plays next year.

Ugh.  And on a line with Koivu and Selanne he’ll score 30.

This is the saving grace of tonight, if it actually happens.  Maybe we needed this after that past couple weeks of emotional highs.  The funny thing to me is that we always talked about (for what 22 years?) the first round was so hard because we had our playoff position weeks ago and we are up against teams who have been playing playoff hockey for 2 weeks just to get in.  Isn’t that supposed to be US now?!  That drives me crazy.  We should be a dangerous, dangerous team.  I am not giving up, I have faith.  Tonight better be a wakeup.

Much like game one.  The top line completely non-existent.  That’s twice in three games.  Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a trend.  They can’t afford a third sub-par effort.
