from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,
Here is a closer look at each selection.
D Moritz Seider
Drafted: 6th.Wingspan: Seider had an encouraging first year of hockey in North America, producing two goals and 20 assists in 49 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins. He was loaned to Germany for the World Juniors, where he had six assists in seven games. Seider showed off his skills with GR, and he also showed bite, pushing back against AHL veterans trying to intimidate him. He would have gotten a few games in Detroit had the NHL not shut down March 12 because of the pandemic.
D Antti Tuomisto
Drafted: 35th.Wingspan: Like Seider, Tuomisto is big (6-foot-4, 195 pounds) and shoots right. He recorded 15 goals and 34 assists in 48 games in Finland’s top junior league (in order to protect his eligibility to play next season at the University of Denver, Tuomisto could not play in the men’s league). He was named the Jr. A SM- liiga MVP and and defenseman of the year. At 19, he plays a mature game, physically and mentally.
