Quick Recap- Detroit/Florida

When a team is not ready to play at puck drop, many say it is on the coach.  Is it?

Florida jumped out to a 3-0 lead, Bobby Ryan scored and you are thinking, next goal is important.

You didn't have to think long, 59 seconds later it was 4-1.

Thomas Greiss is replaced by Jonathan Bernier to start the second period and the only goal was by Florida with 22 seconds left.  5-1 after two.

In the third period, Florida added 2 goals, Detroit .

Final score 7-2.

Something has to be done Mr. Yzerman.

Detroit goals are below.

Bobby Ryan

to phrase SY…

“All i want to see is improvement !”

-Do you guys see any ?

SO

If there is NO improvement..what is the next step ?

I mean when you start your PP with Fil on the ice you know you are in trouble..

It’s all talent’s fault ?..you sure ? Zadina has no talent ?..why is he invisible ?

And about the effort…good or not ? did we put up a good effort ? i see the Panthers, a much better team, working their butt off on EVERY shift..

...is it the same for the men in red ?

Why not take ALL the vets out of the line-up and gradually playing the kids..

What ?..you think by playing the kids now it would “hurt” their development ? lol..We are the worst ..but right now we are THE OLDEST team in the league ..does it make any sense ?

Play the kids…do something to bring some sparks, cause there is no sparks. To surround the kids with vets DOESN’T work !

Its discouraging to watch this..and it takes a certain type of fans to do so (crazy)

This game was like watching kids get picked on at school.  Did love micks story about Dryden.  But man.

And I’m so insane I’m gonna do this again tomorrow.

Uuuuuugggghhhh

Good question. There is no improvement as the Red Wings look like they are skating in quick sand. oh oh

It looked like the 2nd best team in the league VS maybe the worst.

Which it was.

At times DET looked like they could play with FLA, but the defensive breakdowns are just constant and numerous. Turnovers were what, 16 DET, 4 for FLA?  Part of it is being overmatched, the other part is just plain being sloppy.  They gotta’ get Staal out of there, he does not belong anywhere on NHL ice at this point, and Nemeth isn’t far behind in terms of uselessness IMO.  Defense remains an absolute dumpster fire.  Imagine where this team would be without Stecher’s little plays that he makes, yikes…

I know they picked on the Helm miss a lot in the postgame but the Brome one was just as bad.  Also there were also numerous times when a player had a clean shot, hesitated, and next thing you know they had no shot at all.  Team just has no confidence offensively.  You see it when guys do get some confidence (like Ryan, Namestnikov, Zadina) how much more effective they are and how they don’t hesitate.

SO

If there is NO improvement..what is the next step ?

The cry here seems to be “Fire Blashill”, but I still says that makes a scapegoat of him when the players desperately need accountability.  It’s entirely possible (or probable even) the answer is just “3/4 of this roster is not NHL caliber, and never will be no matter who’s working with them”...

Actually Fil has played well offensively. Twice in the last 2 games he has taken the puck to the net area and made a good pass to set up a goal or a scoring chance. That is better than the rest of the team. The third and 4th line guys haven’t been doing that and its part of the problem.

A pass out front from behind the net is the best way to score goals. Look up Gretzky.
That was his advice.

That is just the way it is, you can’t change the whole team, so change the coach.  Coach’s know this is how it works.

Although tonights game I wonder when the team found out about Tchekmarov passing.  That would certainly explain the teams play.

Yes it would. They didn’t seem to be mentally there tonight. Probably won’t be much better tomorrow. Totally understandable.

I’m willing to bet they play their best game of the season tonight.

You would think so TK, but with this team you are not getting any money from me.

Ha, yeah, no way I’d bet a cent on this team.

Got me thinking about the last game at the Joe. The team hadn’t been good but man did they show up for that last game. That was one of the best regular season games I’ve ever seen… There was so much energy from the team and the fans.

All I remember was tinky winky scoring 2 goals after an 80 game goalless drought.

So you want a complete rebuild, this season.  Good luck

I have no idea when but maybe at least 2 years.  Some contracts must go away,  Some clunkers getting paid, they be ashamed.

How about 4 more Seiders?

Hope a couple of young Stud Goalies, at least appear somewhere.

Blashill does not seem to have any patience with young guys.  I doubt if Young guys care much for the Egg Head Coach.

Way too soon to evaluate the rebuild, IMO
