DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Patrik Nemeth from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for the Avs’ fourth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Nemeth, 29, is in his second campaign with the Red Wings and has tallied eight points (2g/6a) this season, ranking third among Detroit blueliners in points and average time on ice (18:24). He is second on the club and first among Red Wings defenders in average shorthanded time on ice (2:09).
Nemeth previously spent two seasons with the Avalanche from 2017-19 after being claimed on waivers from the Dallas Stars on Oct. 3, 2017 and produced 25 points (4g/21a) and a +32 rating in 142 games with Colorado. The 6-foot-3, 228-pound rearguard finished the 2017-18 campaign with a +27 rating, tied for the fifth-best plus/minus rating for a defenseman in Avalanche history (since 1995). Nemeth also ranked first on the team with 185 blocked shots that season and set career highs in points (15), goals (3) and assists (12). He skated in a career-best 74 games the following year (2018-19).
