No Such Thing As A Meaningless BJ

Our Uncle Mike has a vision.  To him it may be benign and ritual.  An annual rite almost, another matchup with another baby brother, one we’ve seen many times before.

Teddy Kulfan

“It looks to me we’re playing Nashville in the first round,” Babcock said. “Two really good teams. It’s going to be a battle.”

Yes it will, and with that battle should come a spirited discussion about which GM strengthened their team considerably on 28 February…and which GM did absolutely nothing.

And that little confab may turn out to be irrelevant.  For our sake, I’m hoping that discussion is short-lived and meaningless.  If, in mid-to-late April, we find ourselves talking about the trade deadline it’s going to be with a high degree of bile and angst. And we hate bile and angst. Do you follow me on this?  Our primary topic of discussion around 20 April needs to be about stifling Vancouver or exposing St. Louis.  If we’re talking about Tick Tock’s deadline standpattedness, that’s going to mean something horrible happened the days leading up to that.  With me?

But that’s a Hasek-held chit chat we can table until it’s absolutely necessary.  For now? Home ice is the beautiful baby we need to be cradling.  It’s a soft little bunny to be cherished, a Charlevoix Saturday morning with a pleasant hangover, one that doesn’t hurt, but just lingers until you make the decision that it’s time banish it the only way you know how, with another PBR.

As good as a BJ may sound right about now, this one needs to be trounced and stifled. For the sake of home ice, it really needs to be wasted and scoffed at.  Disregarded and slapped away for the sake of the greater good.

It’s a Live Blog, bitches.  Bubba’s on the horizon and, by god, we need to see that bastard a possible four times instead of three at the House that The Captains Have Built.

Well, it’s a two-goal lead and here’s hoping the brainfarts wearing our beloved Winged Wheel crest wake up.

Yup, if this keeps up, their ECHL goalie is gonna have some great stories to tell over the long summer.

Yeah, I know it was a 2 on 1. I still think it was sloppy.

Well, I was going to comment how Dats knocked that guy on his ass, but then the BJ’s scored.

What a waste of a good play by Datsyuk.  Stupid Lidstrom for stepping up in the zone.

Seems like every odd man rush or breakaway ends up in the back of the net.

I can’t even remember the last time the Wings converted a 2 on 1 or breakaway.

My daughter wanted to go on the ice and beat the fuch out of Conklin Saturday night when the Canes got their 4th goal. Upon further review, I’m an ass for not letting her. After all, what strengthens a father / daughter relationship more than a night or two in Wayne County jail?

But I will stick by what I told every person stupid enough to listen to my drunk ass that night: Ty Conklin is, at best, an AHL-caliber goalie.

Enough.

I’ve tried to write, to re-write, to reiterate (and keep clean) how I feel about this years Wings. All I can say is that I literally have no words.

We’ve gone from being THE team to beat, the team that everyone steps their game up
against to a team that literally doesn’t know their asses from their elbows.

And if this is how bad it gets when we lose Kris Draper and two assistant coaches, how bad will it be next year, sans Stuie, TPH, Homer and god knows who else.

I never thought I’d say this, but i’m praying for a lockout.

Not sure I’d call 4 goals allowed against Carolina as good.

They weren’t softies but he needs to bail the team out once in a while.

Amen to that. He’s had a relatively good run with Grand Rapids. Let’s bury him there forever more. Any news on J-Mac’s recovery?
