Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin summed up his frustration with this club’s lack of offense.
“We’re competitive, we play good defense, we’ve gotten great goaltending, but to win games you have to score goals,” Larkin said Tuesday, after a 2-0 loss to the Nashville Predators at Little Caesars Arena....
“I don’t really look at it that way; I’m not comparing one year to the next,” coach Jeff Blashill said. “I think we’re a better hockey team. We’re playing with more structure. Because of that, we’re in games. Lots of games I felt we had enough chances to score. I did not feel that way tonight because I think our will was at 80 percent and not 100 percent.”
Larkin cited not being hard enough at the Nashville net. Pekka Rinne made 24 saves for his 59th career shutout but face many quality chances.
“We had some looks, but we weren’t hungry enough around their net,” Larkin said.
