Jeff here, filling in for Paul, who would normally fill in for the Master Chief. Wings have a chance to start a road winning streak, let’s blog it(!)

Still think a sniper is the answer?
I don’t know. Would a sniper miss the net like Helm did? Would a sniper bury that chance(s) Val had? Hard to say.

This is like games earlier in the season. The Wings do not play well in front of Conklin. Even if not his fault, it’s a dynamic that has to be changed.

Nice moves by Kindl there until he lobbed it right to Nabby.

uh oh, somebody get out the bug spray.

Kindl all alone in the slot. Meanwhile, the rest of the team stands around, except homer who got put on his ass.

Defenseman on his backhand. Can’t expect much out of that play, but a decent showing none the less.

Where is Jim Leyland’s “mailing it in” speech?
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 01/10/12 at 11:25 PM ET
Franzen wide open in front of the goal and he passes it back to the point…

Yeah not really his fault that was his only play.
Seems like everyone else is trying to make the extra pass tonight instead of just firing it.
Posted by SolidTG7 on 01/10/12 at 11:27 PM ET
Kindl’s shots have nothing on them. Did he do power lifting before this f***ing game? Or are both shoulders broken? The hell…

wait, i was wrong, Wings need someone to just shoot the fuching puck.

Hey, at least there was no penalty shot.

I see a ... oop a goal ... never mind.
Uncle Mike, you better bag skate this team. Seriously.

Let’s not bother getting it deep Homer…..just toss it across the point to start the break for the Isles

A full fledged train wreck of a game. Right here, right now…....

this isn’t even fair
how can a team be this shitty on the road?
*#$%@& pathetic.

Well, the only thing left now is to wait for George’s requisite post tomorrow morning about how none of these goals were Conklin’s fault.

Everyone’s wrong. They just need some heart.
Jumbo Joe and Dany Heatley both fit the descriptions many have here as either a “power forward” or a “sniper” and let’s be honest, neither have the heart or leadership to fix what you’re seeing. Scoring isn’t our problem, it’s effort.

The GM loves this team and foresees no major changes. gREAT!
And this next thing is coming from someone who NEVER turns off a game.
Good nite.

Another thing they don’t seem to be doing is trying to hit them at all, they really went after Chicago and it worked pretty well, tonight they’d rather just turn it over like crazy and hang Conklin out to dry.

The Isle making DET look like an average AHL club.
The Eastern Cellar Dwellar M F Isles.

Sorry for the offensive language, but this quote from DRW Stream chat cracked me up, and made me cry a little on the inside.
Warning.

I’ve been out of the loop for a few days and late to the party tonight. Game over, eh?
Posted by MsRedWinger from Flori-duh on 01/10/12 at 11:32 PM ET
They had 37 hits in that Chicago game, they have 5 through 2. Now I’m not asking them to be reckless but they seem play better when they engage physically, go out in this third and hit these young Islanders.
Posted by SolidTG7 on 01/10/12 at 11:32 PM ET

I don’t know. How can you be so stupid at home? Sometimes there are no answers.
Posted by calquake on 01/10/12 at 11:33 PM ET
I don’t know why those Red WIngs fans insist on coming out to the Nassau Coliseum.
The Islanders take their money and send them on their way with their tails in between legs.

They’re just trying to help fill the arena once in a while.

Saw the replays of the goals.
Oh, for fuch’s sakes…

The Isles scored their 3 second period goals on 4 freaking SOG.
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 01/10/12 at 11:38 PM ET
Just no engagement. None. Nada.
Conks should be tearing his team a new @sshole.
Posted by SYF from the Flood on 01/10/12 at 11:39 PM ET
The Isles are 8-0-4 when leading after 20 minutes?
i think this number will be changing after this game. holy crud. i think the local beer league could play better than the wings tonight.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Datsyuk stirs this drink, not Lidstrom.
This doesn’t even look like a playoff team with him out of the lineup.
