Kenny’s Future, and Present, Start Tonite

In Denver, of all places.  Clearly, Kenny (plus his band of all-important, equal under law, advisors) feel that one round, two rounds, even no rounds, are what await us later this month?  It's all on the kids...plus a few guys whose final years will be completely wasted.  That's just science.

So, what are we to do?  Continue to blast away at a front office that's done exactly nothing since '09?  That would be flagellatory, thorny and downright juvenile.

So, yes, that's the answer.  It's the answer because there have been no straight answers.  We like our team.  Mike Babcock is "100 percent" satisifed with what he has.  Tires have been kicked.  Meetings held.  Deals...ignored.  And we're getting criticized by our own for daring to question how nothing's been done to mitigate glaring personnel losses.

But that's cool.  DeKeyser's here.  We signed some sasquatch of a defenseman and a goalie from NMU. So, everything's fine.

Too harsh?

Too bad.  Nobody's giving up.  Deep down, in strange places we don't talk much about, every one of us feels there's actually a chance this team can do something interesting...if they get in.  Literally, I believe that and so do many of you.

Denver.  What a shithole.  A nice place, I'm sure. But as a hockey town? Shit. Hole.  Horrible team.  Terrible fans.  Worse bloggers. Sobbing beat writers.  But a team that must be defeated if this team, our team, is to move forward despite the unspoken acknowledgment from the organ-I-zation that nothing is expected.  At all.

What a conundrum.  An interesting one, though.  Because now, nothing is expected.  Any success would be a bonus.  We're like Columbus.

So we turn. We turn from frustrated to hopeful.  What if?  Eh?  What if?

Games like tonite need to be captured, though.  Isn't that right?  St. Louis, a team no better than ours with a future no brighter, made huge moves.  Huge.  They beckon.  Columbus, with a glimmer of optimism, made moves.  Minnesota made a nice move.  We did nothing because the franchise clearly feels this isn't the year.  So, how nice would it be if it actually was?

That's what we now face.  Ok.  I'm in. All in, as usual.  Just get there, Wings.  Get in and roll the dice.  Like an 8 seed should.

It's a Live Blog, bitches.

everyone seems to be missing the fact that the Avs are 10-6-2 at home.  they only have 2 wins on the road.  it’s their road woes that keep them in the basement, but at home they’re hard to beat!

Kindl’s confidence is completely shot.  He’s overthinking EVERYTHING I think.  I still like the kid but wonder if he can ever snap out of it.  He’s not reacting though.

Ericsson was… *gulp*... fairly steady tonight.  In the 3rd that mess in front of Howard where he calmly, almost disinterestedly, flipped the puck up and out of the zone while everyone else on both teams was wildly flailing… that must be the kind of thing the Wings’ brass sees in him still.

The answer is “no”, but there IS a way under Gary.Ass’ system that both of them can GAIN points by exploring overtime!

Colorado did it, so can you.  They’re special, you’re special, everyone is special.  Overtime explorers are super special people.

SUN:  vs STL (8th)
THU:  vs SJS (4th)
FRI:  at CHI   (1)
SUN:  at NSH (12, but only 4 pts out)

Tough fuching sledding right there.  YIKES

Time to start reconnoitering the neighborhood.

Well said.  This next week probably is, indeed, make or break.

Just watched the highlights of the 3rd period and the OT.  Z and Pav - what great guys to have on our team and to teach the youngin’s about never giving up.

I couldn’t help but notice that, after Pav pushed that puck past Giggy, his first concern was not a celebration, but making sure Giggy was OK.  That’s what makes me love Pav.

Time for St. Lose to lose, methinks.

See you all tomorrow.

GOOD

no backing into the playoffs this year.  you want it?  go take that shit.  and take it from the best teams in the league.

hopefully it’ll mean they go into the playoffs strong, and the kids learn how hard it is just to MAKE the playoffs in the NHL…let alone WIN in the playoffs in the NHL.

Well, I missed a nailbiter of an LB.  rofl.

For today’s practice, I suggest the Wings just play shimmy at the Joe for no other reason than to just get them to loosen up.  Kindl’s having the roughest adjustment of any of the Wings’ d-man going on.  Almost feel sorry for the guy because he has said that he puts so much pressure on himself to do better.

It’s two points and I’ll take it, too.

2 / 4 points from non playoff teams.  better than nothing.

A traditional 4-point game versus StL tomorrow, defining who will be shoved to the bottom of the playoff ladder to ward off the intruders from 9, 10, and 11.

Unless it’s a 5 point game, or a 3 point game, or it could be a 1 point game, because everyone is a winner and gets a participant ribbon if you go to OT.

We need Chicago to beat down Nashville today and Los Angeles to kick the tires from underneath Edmonton.  We picked up 2 points last night, would be great to keep that cushion after today.

Ten games left to make up points.
