It’s Hard To Speak Optimistically With Chunks Of Vomit Blocking The Muscles You Talk With

We don’t know what a lead looks or feels like.  A powerplay goal is a lottery winner.  A game without injuries is a concept we just don’t understand anymore.  Everything sucks and we’ll be lucky to get the sixth seed instead of the fifth.

The pessimism is pathetic.  The only thing more disgusting is the optimism Blues fans will feel about next year after they lose in the first round this year.

But it’s interesting.  It’s fascinating, really, that a group like us with so much to be gloriously arrogant about could be so collectively suicidal because of a current 5 seed with 9 games to play.

Jimmy Howard could play Saturday, and get 8 games in before the shitstorm starts.

It’s fair to say that Lidstrom would play tonight if this were a playoff game.

As bad as the power play is, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that a two-game stretch of success could get it untracked.

If the Wings slip to 6th, they get Dallas or Phoenix.  If they stay in 5th, it’s looking like Bubba. The latter is not our first choice, but it’s not earth ending.

As good as St. Louis looks, there isn’t one of us who doesn’t believe the Wings couldn’t beat them in a 7-gamer.  That’s just law.  And if they get San Jose in the first round?  No matter how bad the choking Sharks look now, they have the talent to end that wet dream.

This two-month stretch of February has sucked the life from the 19.  But, nothing is over.  Not yet.

Winning tonite is an impossibility.  Or so it would seem. Of all the games the Wings have lost the last month and a half, this ones seems to be the most certain kick to the sack.

Interesting, isn’t it?  Just as we guaranteed glory back in January, we now see nothing horror in our immediate futures.

There’s no way this team can win tonite, or when the playoffs start. The odds are too high, the suck too strong, the injuries too wicked.

And we’ve always been right.  Right?

It’s a Live Blog, bitches.  It’s a Live Blog and a perfect time to remind ourselves of one undeniable fact, proven time and again.  These are the Wings we’re talking about, and no matter the circumstances, puppies are always a possibility.  Hookers are always available. Always.  As bad as this is, and it’s absolutely gross, all it would take is a Round 1, Game 1 victory on the road, with two PP goals.  After that? It would be on.  On, I tell you.

Whip it out, Uncle Mike.  Roll the cameras and whip out the Conk.  There’s still a story to be told and wouldn’t it be a good one if the team we know so well suddenly decided to right this sinking barge.

It’s been so long since they won last time that one point feels like a win, at least like a moral win.

He looked completely deflated coming off the ice after the OT goal

As well he should.  He busted his ass and the team lost.  If he didn’t look deflated, I’d be pissed.

Another deflating defeat.  Fuch.

Yes, but certainly a better performance than most of the last five.  Something to build on and all that.  They’ll kick Carolina’s rear for sure.

Is it me or does it seem like the days of “Red Wings puck possession hockey” has transformed into “ACK! Let’s throw it back into the zone while the rest of my teammates are trying to get out” and “Hey, let’s see just how pretty I can make this pass to… oh shit…”

*#$%@& a duck. Better effort tonight on the road with the #3 goalie playing. Time is running out trying to work out of the funk.

Ok I’m going to continue ranting just because I took too much Sudafed today.

Ok, so I’ve never played anything beyond a roller league in Amarillo and pick up here in Minot, but seriously…what the hell has happened to the Wings over the last couple months.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen them dump and chase so much…turn it over so much…or seem so uninspired.  Freakin Hudler?  Holy crap the only time I even realized he was playing tonight is when they were bagging on him for not paying attention.

Yes.  I understand that the team is riddled with injuries.  But it wasn’t the Griffins that were making the boneheaded plays tonight.  Bert?  Holy shitballs.

I am really trying to keep positive because that’s what Babcock said is the mantra lately.  Sure, Lidstrom, Big E, Mule and Jimmah coming back will be a big boost.  I just hope like hell they’ve been spending their spare time reading A2Y and taking notes or spare time is going to be plentiful come May.

On a positive note, Conks played well tonight.  If JMac can’t come back it’s nice to know he may be able to handle the backup job, hopefully.

All things considered not an embarrassing performance on the road to the best team in the East.  However,  fortunate to get 1 point.  Lots of turnovers and passes right to the other team.  Some players showing promise for the future and Zetterberg was a dominant mofo again.

Every 1 point is huge now for the Wings and keeps us a tiny bit out of the reach of the POS.  like to get 7 more to 100, certainly not easy for this group with just 8 games left.

LMAO, Sharks saving grace for 2 months has been they had 3 games in hand on nearby teams. No more, and theyre out of 8th by 2 points.

Totally agree with those who felt it was a good effort and a much better game by the Wings last night.  Conklin exceeded expectations for sure, and I think it’s great that these Griffins are getting some experience now, rather than just being call-ups for the playoffs.  If the top guys get healthy - and with all the rest they are getting - look out!

Watched the game with the mute button pushed again.  I simply cannot stand Doc, Oilslick and Pee-Air.  I dread the thought of them doing the playoffs.  If only the radio was in sync with the TV.  I’d listen to Ken and Paul.  When I was a kid, we used to watch the Tigers on TV while listening to Ernie Harwell on the radio.

I think a lot of us did that back in the day.  How hard could it possibly be to come up with a device that syncs up the radio and television feeds?

The GWOTG was scored on a player change…
Cleary went to the bench and his replacement skated very nonchalant towards the Wings end, with no effort to catch up to the play, making the GW’er basically a 4 on 3.
.................Anyone notice which player it was..?

Let me see if I can get this to work, some of the font or sizes may need to be adjusted.
According to this, the Red Wings have been flat lining for about 9 games, did anyone notice that while it was happening? Vancouver about the same.

The rate Detroit and Chicago are playing the ‘Hawks could slide into #4 home vs #5 Nashville, and Detroit #6 at #3 Dallas.  Hmmmmmmmm.

We should limp above the arbitrary 94 point playoff tide line.  That’s the number back in 2010 I predicted 8 weeks ahead and it was the right cut off between 8 and 9, this year could be a bit different, depending if that Peloton of Suck all knock each other around or feed off Detroit.

Let’s get a little bit ROW Dee, with a R-O-W, Dee Y.
Dallas has an important 2 game lead in the PAC with 33 ROW.  SJS on the ropes but can jump to third with a couple of wins.

I say Hudler. I watched the replay over and over and could not tell for sure who it was.

Small player, double digit number, first number 2.  Going solely by the number, as far as forwards go that gives us Hudler and Miller.

Player was too small to be Miller.  Hudler is listed as a -1 in the box score along with Datsyuk and Kronwall.

Datsyuk, Kronwall, and Stuart are clearly on the ice for that shift and had been working their asses off.

Going by all this it had to be Hudler.

Working against this evidence is the fact the box score is wrong on +/- for the game as it shows both Quincey and Stuart as even.  Quincey was +1 and Stuart was -1.  Apparently one was mistaken for the other on one of those goals.

I think there will be less pressure for the wings to start on the road, as opposed to staying healthy all year and having home ice…. Just win one of the first 2 games !
