Tomas Holmstrom, talking with text buddy and BFF Helene St. James, isn't ready to make anything close to a decision just yet.
"I have not decided what I'm going to do," Holmstrom said today.
Holmstrom finished a two-year deal last season, leaving him an unrestricted free agent. His best friend, fellow Swede and longtime teammate, Nicklas Lidstrom, retired in May. Where Lidstrom left with a calm conscience, knowing that it was the right decision for him, Holmstrom is unconvinced about which path to take.
"I will take my time," he said.
More here, and a couple good points from St. James (taking a break from Snowball Watch): if Homer's gonna play, his spot isn't automatic. Looking at the roster now and knowing what he brings to the table...he'd have to try out, much like Mike Knuble may intend to.
Oh, and this...
One thing is certain: He doesn't want to play hockey unless it's in Detroit.
"Wings it is," Holmstrom said.
Exactly. Wings it is, indeed.
