GDT - Game #77:  Red Wings at Blue Jackets (7:30)

DET (46-25-5), second in the Central today, have a golden opportunity to put some points up on NSH and catch them in the ROW tiebreaker column; thanks to the Blues 3-0 win over NSH last night.  Of course that means the Wings will actually have to win one on the road, something they have not managed to do at all this month, 0-4-2. Worse, they cannot score on the road either, 9 GF, 20 GA in those 6 games.

After Monday’s 7-2 beat-down, you have to think the BJ’s (24-45-7) will show a little pride in their game. But the cellar-dwellers of the league also own the worst home record at 14-21-3.

Somethings gotta give.  LGRW!

From Khan’s Twitter:  Red Wings’ Johan Franzen will return on Wednesday; Jonathan Ericsson remains a possibility.

———————————————————————————————————-
From Mark Znidar, Columbus Dispatch:

Goaltender Steve Mason will get another chance. He was pulled in the second period against Detroit for rookie Allen York after giving up the sixth goal. Mason has allowed nine goals on 23 shots in the past two games.

Ok, I’m no pharmacist, But I am just a little confused. Mason is, for whatever reason, a sieve lately;  0-2-0, 9.57, .796 in last 2 GPI.  On the other hand, Allen York, in replacing Mason in the last two games has a 1.18 GAA, .955 save%.  It may be that DET and EDM were on cruise control after getting so far ahead.

On the other hand, it may be that there is a reason the BJ’s are dead last in the league.

Wings are sure ready for another scrimmage.

This might actually be a good game for our recently healed players to come back on…unless it’s another blow out then get them the hell off the ice.

I can’t decide if I want to make the drive to Cowtown and catch the game or just watch it on tv at home. I haven’t been to that theme restaurant of a hockey arena yet this season.

Wings can create some space with a road warrior win (what’s that?) AND a win vs Nashville Friday would almost cinch 4th place and first round home ice.

In the Peloton of Suck, everyone except PHX is playing tonight with every game critical.

BUF had a huge win over the Caps ( 35 years, 4 logos, 0 Cups ) last night to take over East 8th place by themselves and shove the Caps to 9th.

How odd to feel happy about a Blues win last night.

Here’s hoping for another very strong game.

Good rule of thumb. NEVER miss the opportunity to see the Red Wings live. I had to go to Nashville to make that happen this year. Certain captains aren’t going to play forever, ya know.

That is good advice, although I did not go to DC this season when the Caps jacked up seats to $150+ for upper bowl.

wtf Uncle Mike.. Cleary can barely walk, told all he needs surgery, but he’s still in and a young healthy, red wings developed mursak is out?  Really?  With home ice on the line.

here’s hoping I actually notice grandpa joe on the ice tonight, fuch.

Great utilization of Nyquist btw, since he’s been doing so horribly on that top line…..... wtf this shhit is getting so predictable with Babs.

I am also sorry to see Gus dropped to the 4th line.  Babs probably thinks Magic Pav will get Mule going - poor Pav, he has to be everyone’s savior.  You’d think they’d want young Gus to get more minutes though, and let Mule take it easy a little…  And why not let Mursak play and Cleary rest?

(I have to say that, as a Wolverine fan, I can’t call Abby “Sparty.”  So I’ll stick with Abby if I comment about him.  BTW, I don’t like “Gator” either, as I live in Florida Gators territory - major ugh.  Don’t even get me started on “Jesus Christ” Tebow. *barf*)

Very happy for Shawn Hunwick, Michigan goalie, signing with Columbus.  He wasn’t drafted by an NHL team, so it’s good to see he may get a chance in the NHL.  He’s small, but good - very good.  He’ll be their backup tonight.

Thanks, Okie, and LET’S GO RED WINGS !!!!!

Totally agree on Abdelkader, that would just ruin my image and desire to do unspeakable things to him.

No Sh1t on Hunwick??  Straight to Columbus?  That’s great for him to get picked up at almost the NHL level already.  He’s been great at Michigan.

Agree. Nyquist is being moved down so Mule can get kick started. That is not fair since he has not performed the way he should for quite a while. But, Mule is the vet and Nyquist is the rookie. At least he is still going to get to play. Then, there is the Buckets playing injured while Mursak sits problem.

Babbles has that stubborn streak that I have never liked. It was OK for Scotty, but, Babbles is no Scotty.

His inability to bend a little sometimes results in bad results.

Thanks OAkie.
