GDT - Game #63:  Red Wings host Avalanche (7:00)

DET (41-18-3) look to snap a two game losing streak when they host COL (31-27-4) tonight at the Joe.  Some consistent effort from someone besides JFH and the #3 line would help their cause immeasurably. Babcock:  “We’ve been able to win some games without maximum energy. That doesn’t mean your guys don’t work. What I’m saying is we don’t seem to have the kind of energy or the emotion in us right now.”  A PP goal or two might help matters as well, DET have not scored a single power-play goal over their last three home games.

It isn’t all bad news for the Wings, the PK is actually living up to it’s name, as the Wings have allowed only one power-play goal over the last seven games

COL (31-27-4) are coming off a 5-0 win last night at CBJ, and are in a mass scramble for the 8th playoff position.  They’ll be ready to go, and Semyon Varlamov is a freaking wall at the moment, 2-0-0, 0.50, .984 in his last 2 GP.

So the Red Wings lose a game at home in OT after 23 straight wins and drop to #2 Home record?  Insane.

12-7 vs top 10 teams is a good sign.

Yet, we’re not playing our best.  That could be a good sign also, but only if we learn how to start playing our best.

Man, having someone like Getzlaf now would be great.. The Wings have looked HORRIBLE without Pasha. Hopefully it’s not another embarrassing game tonight.

I still keep seeing Mule, laying on the ice, with the emotionless look on his face, as to accept no blame what-so-ever, after the lame half-hearted attempted shot block.

WWTTD?

Thanks OAkie.

Bitches.

I’d rather they miss the playoffs than see that douchenozzle in the Winged Wheel.

I could eventually live with Getzlaf, but Perry? No freakin’ way.

Yes, I realize this is irrational.

I hate that fucher, playing for ANA.  Would I like to see him in the Winged Wheel, damn straight.

It is unlikely Holland will be making any major moves, so DET might get a 3/4 line guy.  But a man can dream.

“I think that’s what we want to be known as, more like a lunch pail-type line, blue-collar, hard work,’’ Abdelkader said.

The Lunch Pail Line?

I posted the above on George’s blog this morning, but thought I’d share here also.  (Apparently, Helm doesn’t like ham.)

I don’t want Getzlaf or Perry.  They’re both fuching nuts.

Thanks, Okie!

I would welcome Getzlaf in a heartbeat. Dude is huge, can grind pucks out on the wall and is an excellent passer. Put him between Hank and Fil, and tell one of Hank or Fil to start shooting. FairyPerry though can fornicate himself with a rusty screwdriver. But since we’re talking dream scenarios, How about the one where we land both Parise and Suter?

In the more realistic realm, I could dig either Travis Moen or Paul Gaustad in the Winged Wheel. But honestly, do we really need ANOTHER bottom six guy? Putting them on one of the top 2 and expecting results would be setting them up to fail, because neither are proven point producers. I think I’d be willing to take a chance on Mike Knuble. Could end up being a steal because he definitely feels like he can still produce but isn’t being given the chance.

G’morning, Jeff.  Nothing beats a hangover better than your GDT and a mug of Java.

Some consistent effort from someone besides JFH and the #3 line would help their cause immeasurably.

Yep yep yep yep yep yep.  And with 20 games left in the season, it’s time for someone else to step up and show they’re willing to be counted upon in the playoffs.

Just get the two points, Wings.  Get it pretty.  Get it ulgy.  Just get the two points.

From the ‘Dique camp:

Milan Hejduk is out and Peter Mueller won’t play tonight.

I’m no pharmacist, mind you, but the Av’s desperately need points.  Semyon Varlamov is on fire, 2-0-0, 0.50, .984 in his last 2 GP.

Sooo - Av’s have decided to go with Jean-Sebastien Giguere in net.

Maybe there is a reason the Av’s are on the outside looking in?

I’m shocked this isn’t news:

The New York Islanders placed veteran forward Brian Rolston on waivers, the team announced Saturday.
:
:
TSN’s Bob McKenzie reported the other guys placed on waivers Saturday besides Rolston are Ryan Russell and Grant Clitsome from Columbus, New Jersey’s Eric Boulton, Minneosta’s Brad Staubitz and Krys Kolanos of Calgary. Staubitz is on re-entry waivers.

Zetterberg, Bertuzzi, and Cleary, I’m looking at you.

The problem with that is you’ve actually only called out one top-six forward and two guys who wouldn’t be anywhere near the top six, which is part of Detroit’s problem (and will continue to be the problem in the playoffs).

But go ahead Mr Holland, reel in ANOTHER bottom six forward please…
