GDT - Game #53:  Red Wings at Oilers (10:00)

DET (35-16-1) will be whipping out their Conk at EDM (20-26-5), as Jimmy F’n Howard is on the bench with a broken finger. Conk’s 3-5 record isn’t too spiffy, but he has won 2 of his last three starts.  With their SO win at VAN of Thursday, the Wings finally broke through the .500 mark on the road (15-14).  DET have won nine of their last 10 games, with five of the victories coming by way of the skills competition.

The Oil have gone 3-0-1 in its last four games - two of those coming against first-place teams San Jose and Vancouver, and are riding a 3 game home winning streak.  Sam Who?  Sam Gagner entered Thursday’s matchup with Chicago with five goals all season, and went all crazy scoring four goals and adding four assists - the first eight-point game in the NHL since Mario Lemieux did it Dec. 31, 1988 - in an 8-4 victory. He matched a franchise record held by Wayne Gretzky and Paul Coffey.

Thanks RWBill.

For those that missed it at the end of the last thread, my new baby girl was born at 1:43pm and Mommy & baby are both doing very well.

Looking forward to catching some Red Wings tonight.  If for no other reason than we can stop have everyone pretending Sam Gagner is some kind of awesome player when he falls on his face and does nothing tonight.

Congratulations, Primis!  That’s wonderful news.

George mentioned that Bert is iffy for tonight.  Hope he’s OK.  We don’t need line changes in front of our Conk.  And Cleary’s knee is a problem that will have to be addressed soon, unfortunately.

Sending all the positive energy I can muster to Conk tonight.  I want him to have a great game - would be wonderful for his confidence and that of the team.

Here’s hoping the young upstart Oilers are a little too cocky, and the Red Wings take them to school.

Thanks, for the GDT, Okie!

LET’S GO RED WINGS !!!!!

Is Mursak in the lineup? Will need his type of energy against these young guns.

Great wins on Thursday night for both the Wings and my team. We finally got off the schnide and won a game 3-2 .

Workin the afternoon, but will catch the L-bee tonight.

Thanks, Jeff.  So nice seeing the GDT this Saturday morning.

DET have won nine of their last 10 games, with five of the victories coming by way of the skills competition.

Generally not one to complain since I have said I’ll take two points anyway we’ll can on these extended road trips.  However, I’d like to win in regulation more often.

Whatever, a win’s a win’s a win.  Like TPH, enjoy them when you have them.

Won’t be able to LB with you tonight, 19.  The Wranglers are looking to win the rubber match tonight against the Alaska Aces after winning last night 2-1.  Gritty game.  Loved every second of it.

Also, last night, my brother ran into a couple of NHL scouts at the game last night.  Rangers and Senators scouts were in the arena checking out a couple of Wranglers players:  the ECHL-leading goal scorer, Eric Lampe, and Livonia, MI native Adam Miller.  These two guys have excellent scoring touches and just love scoring goals.  Maybe we’ll hear about them in the NHL soon.

Man, if she’d been born only 1 minute later she’d have a future of turning the puck over, taking dumb penalties, and overusing the spin-o-rama.

Thanks for all the well-wishes guys.  Just heard from my wife that they’re going to be ready to come home in a few hours here.  Very excited to get everybody home finally.

Say… has anyone heard form Hawk fans lately?  They do know you need to make the playoffs first in order to win them, right, what with that road-heavy schedule still ahead of them?  So Brendan MessiahSon hasn’t been all that and a bag of pucks?

Tonight is a good night to have a statement game, not to the rest of the league but to us as fans and members of the 19.  A statement that they’re tired of this lazy, inconsistent crap against far inferior teams.
