GDT - Game #50:  Red Wings at Habs (7:30)

The only game on ice tonight, as the Red Wings (33-15-1), riding a 7 game win streak, are at Montreal (18-21-9) for an Original Six matchup.  DET have allowed two or fewer goals in each game during the streak.  A win tonight would be their first 8 game win streak since the 2008 postseason.

The Habs are just 5-9-2 under interim coach Randy Cunneyworth, but are 2-1-2 in their last five, including a win over the East leading New York Rangers and Saturday’s 3-1 victory at Toronto. Special teams demons are not limited to the Wings. MTL have the 2nd best PK (89.2%), while dubiously holding the worst PP (12.2%) in the league.

Last game before Gary’s schmooze fest, and DET has a chance to go over .500 on the road.  LGRW, and for goodness sake, kill a penalty.

Brad Stuart did not practice yesterday, but is expected to play.

Magically Delicious is a little banged up with a “state secret injury”, but also expected to play also:  “I have problem with some part of my upper body,” he said. “I can’t tell you what it is.” Asked if it’s his wrist, Datsyuk smiled and said, “You are like KGB agent.”

Datsyuk wants to get drafted last at the All Star game so he can win a car.  “I pick Lamborghini car.”

I agree that this seems like a double-standard, but I’m curious, if you were to meet Gary Bettman in person, would you be this disrespectful to his face?

Continued from previous thread, I know, but can we send the guy who asked this question a link to that time VooX (w00t!) sat down with Gary for a minute and had a quick interview in which he asked the million dollar question:

Ever pay to go to a hockey game before you were Commish?

In hindsight, we should have specified “NHL” because he responded with “But…when I was at Colgate…Colgate I…ya! Yes-huh!”

Going to be at the game tonight…they better win… for 300$ per ticket, I want the Wings to play a FULL 60min. They should be able to win by at least 3 goals…but if we don’t start on time and if Price plays god…we can be in trouble!!!!

Price will be playing

against

God tonight, and I honestly look for Helm to bury a couple. I think his effort in the last game against St. Louis and Babs and the rest of the team being proud of his resolve and composure under extreme, “Jersey Shore” levels of douchiness will be a huge confidence boost for the kid. So yeah, I say he finishes tonight coming off one his better games of the year vs. St. Lose.

Red Wings, national audience, in Montreal against a craptastic mess of a team that needs encouragement…

You better believe some of the most horrid officiating the league has to offer will be out in full force tonight.

Part of me is a greedy sonuvabitch and hopes he loads up on the Vitamin C and D but I will understand that he’ll be scratched to have an extended vacation.  I’m all for that then.  Stuie and Dangles as well.  At least, it’ll probably get Kindl and Commodore in for one game and see how they’ll play together.  While you can never ever replace Dangles, it would open up a chance for Sak to get in some playing time.  Since Uncle Mike is our head coach, I’ll just shut up now.

Dangles with a minor boo-boo, Lids sick and Stu with a sore knee just 2 days after our last game….

...Gee, can I vote for us not having to play St. Louis in the playoffs? These nicks and scrapes and soreness come WITHOUT them gooning it up after an embarassment, mind you. And we know what they’d do if we blasted them in a playoff game.

I responded to this question, and the Chief’s response to it, in A2Y’s previous post

I also revealed a dark, personal regret about that interview and my lingering guilt ever since.

Fuch Gary.  Ass.

That “premium pricing for select games” shit is as close to “legalized price-gouging” as they can get away with.
