GDT - WCSF Game 3: Red Wings (1-1) host Hawks (1-1) 7:30

Who are these guys?  After getting skated into the ground and taken to the woodshed in game 1, DET pawned CHI in game 2.  The Wings were so damn good, the 'Hawks Captain, having no excuses for his teams ineptitude, accused them of cheating:  “I’m not going to go off and complain about some calls that I thought should have been called or whatever,” Toews said, before essentially doing just that. “If that’s the way they’re going to play, we need to play the same way."  That - is - just - embarassing.

Zetterberg has been a freaking beast, and quite obviously is in Toews head (and determined to stay there).  Dittys like this are priceless,  Hank, discussing his physical play in game 2:  “It’s part of playoffs,'' Zetterberg said. “I think he plays better when it’s more physical and I play better when it’s a little more physical. It’s a give and take.''  If I didn't know better, and I do not, I'd say the gauntlet has been thrown.

Said Babcock: “It was great we had an (extra) off day. It's unbelievable how well that worked out for us. Now we're freshened up. Series on.''  Indeed.  LGRW.

Good morning, Okie!  And thanks!  Couldn’t wait to get on here this morning to see what you had to say.

Series on.  Oh yeah!

Who are these guys?

They are the fuching Detroit Red Wings, and they will not be denied. Captain Z will see to it.

Can’t wait to see the Joe rocking tonight.

LET’S GO RED WINGS !!!!!

If the Wings can win this one, I like their chances of winning the mental game against the Hawks over the course of the series.  Go get em boys!

I’m cautiously optimistic. Simply because I know how the zebra system goes. That being said, I really like our chances.

Bring it tonite. Tougher and more determined than in game 2.

Thanks OKie.

Forward, Bitches.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

Thanks Jeff!

LGRW!

Did they “wake up” the Blackhawks while they smoked them in Game 2?  Maybe so, the playoffs go to another level tonight.  Chicago is the team with deep talent that would just like the game to be determined by unimpeded skating and passing.

This Wings team is learning how to play gritty and stubborn.

Amazingly, if it weren’t for Goals Against resulting from our errors we’d hardly be giving up anything during the past month.  We can’t afford to give Chicago free opportunities.

I liked playing in their end better.

Thanks for asking Stonehands.

Quiet in my locale.  A tornado hit close to daughters home yesterday - but she is safe and sound.  Softball hail in Jr’s part of the world that he missed by just a couple miles (hit the east end of Norman, he lives on the west side).

Round 2 tonight of the weather tonight - - I may be out-of-pocket (of course after missing game 2, that might be the magic mojo).

is there anyone on the planet, outside of Chicago, who thinks in this kind of series-long battle between Zetterberg and Toews, that Toews is gonna come out on top?

this needs to be the game where the Wings figure out - mentally - how to play to games in a row with the intensity they played on Saturday.  throughout the Ducks series it was on-again-off-again…and that’s not going to cut it against Chicago.

This is what makes me believe we can win this series
Outside the brainfarts our D had on the first game, a couple PP goals, and for all the “Hawk’s offense is sooooooo deep”, they got NOTHING going on in the first 2 games.

This is on our hands, at least so far.

And Paulin, I do think a lot of people believe Toews will come out on top against Zetts… But I bet they are the same people betting Perry and Getzlaf would own us on round 1!

Everyone loves to throw around that stat about how the wings are virtually win-less against the Hawks in the past few years. What they keep forgetting is what Babcock keeps saying “We’re getting better.” It may be the same jersey from the past few years but the team under it is completely different, they’re evolving on a daily basis. And that’s just plain exciting to watch.

yep, but I don’t think we can afford that this series.  it’s time the Wings put the other team on the ropes.  can you imagine the pressure on Chicago going back to their own rink down 3-1?  oh man, what a dream that would be.

I BELIEVE!

I hate the PP unit with a winger on the D side of things. The only positive for Brunner, who is not really that good defensively, is that the big boys tend to control the puck. The problem is that one little miscue could send the Hawks down ice on a breakaway.

Other than that, I am loving the way our guys are playing right now. Just need to find that extra “mental ” gear that allows them to grab the Hawks by their collective throats and put them down for the count.

Filpulla and Franzen really got it going last game.  if that continues, giving us a solid scoring second line…then all of a sudden we’re three great lines deep.

I keep waiting for the rookie line to have “one of those games” like they do once in a while.  not just that they play well, but that it goes in the net for them.  if we can get 5 points between the 2nd and 3rd lines tonight, we win.

Toes gradumacated from the Cindy Rosby School of Leadership, Poise & Hair management.  Whiney litle bitches they are.  I watched waaaay to much hockey this weekend. Last nite the schools namesake seemed to leave the ice after every shift with his arms out stretched wailing “why no call?  Then, one to the Refs gave Cindy a “clutch my pearls” moment….when…...they called a high stick on HIM! That was one sad girl sitting alone in the sin bin.

I watched the Kings game and learned that the Refs really miss the Wings and are taking it out on the Kings They made virtually no calls in the 3rd period of the Kings Sharts game letting mayhem, jail sex, puppy abuse, and date rape rule the day.  Then, at 19:18 & 19:55 they decided that the Kings should lose so they called two penalties against them to tie the game. In overtime, the stage was set for everyone’s favorite haberdasher/marital aid consultant, Logan Couture, to slip one in. Then just for good measure they called a game misconduct on that infamous troublemaker, Jonathan Quick. Nice work, if yur a Zebra.

So what happens tonight when the “tuff” Mr. Toes comes to the Joe. Will the Refs let em play or has Lil Gary’s pre ordained Pens/Cawks finals taken firm hold on the Zebra skinned puppeteers? Who knows….it’s Lil Gary’s world….

The Joe will be rockin.  Play hard. Step on some Toes and win.
