GDT - Game 6:  Red Wings (2-2-1) host Stars (2-3-1)  7:30

Through five games, the Red Wings are the only team that hasn't scored a goal in the opening period.  The Red Wings are 2-0 when they score first (both times in the second period) and 0-2-1 when the opposition opens the scoring.  The Red Wings are 2-for-26 on the power play (7.7 percent), which ranks 28th in the NHL.  I'm no pharmacist, but those two ugly facts may be related.

DAL lost last night at CBJ, 2-1.  Not that the tired legs theory proved helpful against CHI the other night.

Regarding the futility that is the PP, I noted this the other day:  At CHI, the Wings had only five shots on the power play (none on their 1:30ish 5-3) , that was just one more than the ‘Hawks registered while shorthanded.

The Wings need to figure out a way to beat their opponents at their own(Wings) game.

Other teams have copied the Wings over the last decade or so, and, have added some tweaks of their own. It is time to come up with a new plan.

If the plan ain’t pannin’, change the fuchin’ plan.

I get that we have lost some personnel,(Scotty) but, we still have enough talent on this squad that should make us a formidable opponent.

Thanks OKie.

Bitches.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

It may be a good thing that no one is talking about Kronwall.

Because of all the other howlings and issues he has rather quietly led the team in TOI and is up there behind only Z and Datsyuk in scoring with 4 assists, no defensive lapses.

That’s everything we expected of him, and all you can ask, others need to pick up their load now.

RWBill, thanks for pointing out how well Kronwall is playing.  I feel bad for him every time I read about how the Wings’ D sucks.  Clearly, not everyone sucks.

And ditto the reactions of others to the news that Lashoff is out of the lineup. (Expletives deleted.) The only way I accept this decision is if this is Kindl’s last chance and he’s gone if he doesn’t step up.

I’ve seen him bobble the puck in his feet a few times missing a pass or getting burned on the point, but overall Kronners is making improvements for sure.  Did you see him, I think it was Chicago, and Chicago was knockin’ on the door in the crease.  Puck comes down in the paint or just outside in front of a Hawks players and Kronners pulls a Z and holds the players stick down so he never got to pull the trigger.  GREAT thinking and decision making right there.  For some reason that play really stood out with me.

they shouldn’t be passing the puck into each other’s feet.  this is something I’ve noticed quite a bit so far this season - their passes are frequently well off the mark, if they’re even aimed at anyone.

Just watched Uncle Mike’s pre-game presser.  He said he wants to see what Kindl can do on the power play, but he also sounded like it was getting pretty close to do-or-die time for Kindl.

P.S. When did they start calling him “Kuba”?

Oh yeah, Uncle Mike also made a point of saying that Lashoff isn’t sitting because he hasn’t played well.  Said he’s played well.

That sounds a bit ominous for Kindle.  Then again they’ve said good things about players in the past and then ignored them.

This team doesn’t have any wiggle room for sitting players who play well.  I dunno, the Organ-I-zation has a pretty damn good idea of Kindle’s worth and potential right now after being in the system for so many years.  Scouts don’t look at player potential like we do, i.e., gosh he got 2 assists he’s really playing well.  They look at footwork, how he receives the puck on his stick, a whole bunch of skill sets, all tempered with game time positioning and performance.  There aren’t any secrets or unknowns about Kindle to those who matter.  Maybe they’ve counseled him about work ethic or physicality or some aspect of his game and have not seen any improvement.  They really know by now whether they’re only keeping him as a last resort.  We’ll see.

Kuba for Nine Lashes? Makes no sense to me. But hey, show him off so you can just waive him or something.. Unless a miracle happens and we trade for something of use.

Q has improved. I’ll still never, ever spell his name again.. But he has improved.
I would like to see the D be more physical though. I know, I know.. We don’t have the personal for that.

Suter isn’t either, although Weber is!

Did I really go there already?  Yes because Kenny has had such great success in Free Agency.

If Kindle is on the treading block, then the Wings have zero leverage trying “sell” him in a game . Hell even my 86 year old mother knows that we need a d-man upgrade and trading another inadequate or uneffective d-man is not gonna bring much of a return. Whatever happened to the “have the best players out there to win” philosophy?
