Coach says the "D" is getting better: “Drastic, night and day. I thought the last game (5-3 win over Minnesota Friday) was the best. I thought Huskins was better, I thought Lash was good, I thought Smitty (Brendan Smith) was strong. (Kyle) Quincey might have had his best game. Kronner (Niklas Kronwall), you don't even worry about him." Playing today at CHI, you can only hope he is right.
With their 3-2 win last night at CBJ, the 'Hawks matched their franchise-best start to a season with 5 consecutive wins. CHI are averaging 4.00 G/G (3) - the Wing's improving "D" is sure to be tested. Maybe the 'Hawks will have tired legs?
A win today moves DET above .500 for the first time this year. LGRW

remember, it’s obvious to all the other GMs in the league that the Wings need help on D. so any available dman will have an inflated price tag. Wings aren’t negotiating from a position of strength.

Neither is Montreal.

Was just thinking that PK maybe a PIM machine…but can’t help but think that maybe if/when he pulls on the Winged Wheel, he would already have it made clear to him “CUT THAT SHIT OUT….you’re a Wing now…you’ll get plenty of penalties called on you without having to make them legit.”

Anybody here from Herm today? There was a bad night club fire in Sao Paolo last night. Over 230 people were killed.

@Cal. I’d consider any trade to bolster the blue line - nothing too crazy. The only untouchables being Z and Datsyuk.

Since the Hawks are undefeated so far does that make them do for a loss? *Knocking on wood.”
As for the Subban talk, how about Franzen/Flip (since we need to make room for some young forwards anyway) and one of our high end prospects?
I’d be happy with that.

I keep seeing Babcock saying things like this…
And we’re trying to become the best group, with what we have, that we can become.
“with what we have”
Babbles is managing expectations. he seems to have the mindset that the Wings have finally settled into “parity” and it’s going to be a different road the next 20 years than it was the last 20.

Things just got a whole lot tougher for the Red Wings as Darren Helm’s had a ‘setback’

oh IT’S JUST A BACK INJURY. those DON’T LINGER THROUGHOUT SOMEONE’S entire CAREER OR ANYTHING. nOPE.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: wphoulihan@gmail.com
I’ll get back to you on that.
