Cheers big ears!

Gotta bail before gametime and go on internet blackout.  Got the game scheduled to record at home.  I’ll be running 3 hours behind, hopefully not in vain.

May put a shot of whiskey in my coffee to ride out my shift.. shhhh…

“Brown’s got a responsibility to keep that elbow anywhere but in Pominvilles face.”

Sorry Overhaul ... I can’t agree with that.

Brown did his job correctly.  He protected the puck and he protected himself.  Is it his fault Pominville was stupid enough to lead with his face ??  Hell no.  If Brown doesn’t throw up that arm to protect himself, he would have gotten run into the boards possibly suffering a shoulder injury.

With that elbow, Brown sent a message ... don’t run me or you’ll feel it.  Old school hockey ... the way it should be. Next time, Pominville will think twice about going after Brown to take the puck away from him

To me, Brown’s actions were perfectly legal. Lets watch some video tape of Shanny while he was playing and see how many times he did that.  How many times would he have suspended himself over his career ??

I think its time we all agreed that the new rules suck.

It would be a pretty boring league if someone left with a concussion everytime there was a battle for the puck.

Pav makes plays like Brown made all the time, with the difference being he keeps his elbow tucked, and leads with the body instead.  Seems to work pretty well for him.

No, it’s his fault because he slammed his elbow into Pominville’s face.  Simple as that.

Oh my gawd !!!  Who in their right mind would compare Brown to Datsyuk ??

They are 2 completely different style players.  Brown gets physical to make room for himself.  He in no way, shape, or form has the puck handling skills Datsyuk has.  Pavel doesn’t get physical because he doesn’t have to ... most of the time.

Read the Tiger Williams article. He comments on the concussion situation. He’s right too.  The new rules removing clutching & grabbing & hooking etc. have increased the speed of the game. Faster, bigger players results in higher energy impacts.

Re-implement the old rules and you’ll eliminate most of the concussions seen today.

The powers that be, when they pulled the new rules out of their collective asses, thought that faster hockey would equal more goals.  As we can see, they were dead wrong. Now they have to invent more new rules to “protect the players from themselves” and keep them from injuring each other.

Why try to fix something that’s not broken ??

Why implement new rules when the old ones were just fine ??

Why do americans insist on fuching up a canadian game ??

Bottom line .... Brown was right and Pominville made a mistake by leading with his face.  I guarantee, if you were in Brown’s skates you would have made the same move.  I sure would have.

I know, right?  Because, before the new rules, nobody ever got cuncussions!

Brown was right and Pominville made a mistake by leading with his face.

Nope.

I guarantee, if you were in Brown’s skates you would have made the same move.

Absolutely not.

I sure would have.

That’s disturbing.

I love that argument, based on nothing, completely counter to logic because most players don’t do what Brown did.

Well Garth ... thats the difference between you & me .... thats the difference between a former player and non-player.  I know what its like to have to keep 2 hands on a stick and protect yourself at the same time.

You’re not concentrating on the moron coming at you ... you’re concentrating on doing your job ... protecting the puck and moving so he doesn’t take it away from you.  At the same time, you don’t want to get run over or hurt by said moron coming at you so, your first instinct is to throw out your arm to protect yourself.

Is it Brown’s fault Pominville’s face happened to be exactly where Brown put his arm ??  Hell no.

Personally, I like Brown’s tough attitude.  Try to run me and you’re going to eat some of this.

I wish more Red Wings had that same attitude.

Yes.  Because Brown put his elbow there specifically to catch Pominville in the face.

Take your holier-than-thou “I used to play” horseshit and shove it up your *#$%@& ass.  You’re a retard who actually thinks Tiger Williams is a smart guy, even though he doesn’t realize that getting your bell rung is getting a concussion.

I used to play too, and I know that slamming my elbow into a guy’s face is wrong.  Anyone whose brain hasn’t been damaged by a concussion knows that.  But maybe I’m giving you too much credit.  Just because your moron instinct is to elbow a guy in the face doesn’t mean it’s right.

Eat a dick, *#$%@&.

just wow ... that’s all I can say Garth.  Profanity ??  Glad to see the passion but its misplaced.

Put yourself in Brown’s position for just a second.

Is your first thought “oh my gosh ... I better not hurt this guy coming at me trying to take the puck away from me” ??  Absolutely not.

First, you’re moving the puck, trying to keep it away from the player coming at you.
Second, you are going to instinctively try to protect yourself from said player coming at you.

As we saw in the video, Brown wasn’t looking at Pominville.  Odds are Brown didn’t know who it was coming at him. He saw a different colored jersey coming at him and he made a protective move.

I can guarantee you Shanny made the same move a bazillion times over the length of his career. He’s a hypocrite and a corporate kiss-ass and his job shouldn’t exist.
