GDT - Game 41: Red Wings (19-15-6) at ‘Hawks (30-5-4) 8:30

After last nights craptastic game in which the Wings managed a charity point, DET remain in 8th, 2 pts behind MIN, and 2 pts in front of PHX.

If DET are lucky enough to limp into the post-season,then tonights tilt against CHI is the proverbial playoff preview.  Looking at the'Hawks gaudy statistics, it could be ugly, really friggin ugly.

However, after witnessing last nights malaise; don't talk about playoffs, the Wings will be lucky to win a freaking game on this road-trip.

I see flashes of Kris Draper in Emmerton.  Not saying he’s top six material, but he’s gonna be a great grinder.

Totally agree with you in Emmerton.  I think he’s played great and has been a pleasant surprise this season.

I agree that he’s played a hell of a lot better than anyone anticipated but saying he’s gonna be a great grinder is…. ummm… shall we say really optimistic. And putting him in the same sentence and Drapes is kinda crazy. You might be going crazy. Nothing personal, just observatin’

think about how many players the Wings have had in the last 15 years that you could say “putting [x new guy] in the same sentence as [z past player” is insane.

Thanks, Jeff.  Sorry I’m late to report to the GDT, but it’s good to see it this afternoon.

Yup yup yup.  Really needed last night’s game to win badly.

Eric Furlatt (27)

Linesmen:

Brad Lazarowich (86)

Weeeellll, if there is ever a ref who really hates the Wings to further drive the nail into the proverbial coffin, this showboating buttmunch will deliver a Penalty Shot in the form of one douchebag $0.20.  Damn…

‘nuclear war is unavoidable’

Are they talking about A2Y?

Dennis, I narrowed the one POS down to 3-13 because, as you observed, 1-2 and 14-15 are not a factor for us right now.  I was going to look at narrowing down the view further after tonight or this weekend.  Some might still want a broad view of the whole conference for reference so I have still been putting that up here.

Thanks Bill. I made the suggestion because all the teams in 1st-6th (except for the #2 Ducks) are on phenomenal hot streaks over the last ten games and are pulling away: #6STL 7-3-0, #5SJS 8-1-1, #4LAK 6-2-2, #3VAN 8-2-0, and #1CHI 6-3-1 (likely 7-2-1 after tonight).

In contrast, the POS teams are hovering within a point or two of .500 over the last ten.

Mediocrity. It doesn’t suck, but it doesn’t get you very far either.
