It's actually cute. You're sitting there waiting, knowing, anticipating a move. You know, because he's the gold and gilded GM, that Tick Tock Kenny Holland is just moments away from bringing you the defenseman we all know we need and deserve.

Not a free agent. Justifiably, Holland didn't dip into that pool. He brought us more forwards, so that he could have the chips he needs to make that one big deal.

And it's coming. Right?

Wrong.

What evidence do you have to support your drunken optimism? Any?

What evidence do you have that gives you the right to feel that Ken Holland has the ability to creatively improve this roster?

Writing a check, spending someone else's money? That's one thing, one part of being a mediocre manager.

Making a trade, actually working with other GMs, doing the wheeling and dealing required to actually trade assets?

If, Jack, you think it's going to happen, Sven22 has some sour news for you. Actually, he plopped a big turd full of facts in our plate last night that leads us to the sour news.

From a comment at TMR (and I'm having problems linking to things...sorry George), Sven listed the trades by team since the introduction of Gary's salary cap in 2005. Have you seen this? Are you ready to throw up in your mouths? Take a look at this list and defend Holland. I dare you. Defend the apathy. Defend the stagnancy. Defend a GM who is clearly incapable of making a deal. In nearly eleven years, look at how Holland has ignored a GM's core competency: making a trade when necessary.

Since '05, thanks to Sven22, here are the numbers of trades made, by team:

Anaheim: 145

Toronto: 117

Arizona/Phoenix: 114

Chicago: 107

Florida: 104

NYR: 91

TB: 90

Columbus: 88

Philly: 87

Calgary: 85

SJ: 85

Boston: 81

Nashville: 81

Montreal: 79

LA: 78

Pittsburgh: 77

Carolina: 76

NYI: 74

Vancouver: 73

Washington: 72

St. Louis: 67

Winnipeg/Atlanta: 67

Dallas: 63

Colorado: 62

Minnesota: 59

Buffalo: 59

Ottawa: 58

New Jersey: 50

Detroit: 23

That is apathy. That is unbelievable, really. It's stark. It's glaring and it's right in front of you. The disparity is disgusting.

And you think he's going to bring us Shattenkirk, or Trouba? Really?

I've asked it before. What, Kenny, do you even do all day?

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
