Even When It’s Not About The Wings? It’s Still About The Wings

San Jose, as you may know, has beaten Detroit two straight years in the playoffs.
Yet, with pessimism ruling the day out west? They’re reaffirming what we already knew…like everyone else, the Sharks are just trying to get close to what the Wings have become.
“Pavel Datsyuk doesn’t lead this league in scoring,” Wilson said of the Detroit Red Wings star, dismissing point totals as a barometer of individual performance. “When Steve Yzerman went from 140 points to 90 points is when they started winning.
“Joe’s not old. Patty’s not old. I mean, on Detroit, they’d be kids. It’s all relative. It’s a state of mind.
“Joe now is at the age when Steve Yzerman won his first Stanley Cup. And it’s possible he’s in better shape and training better—look at how he played in the playoffs before he hurt his shoulder. I’m not sure I see a decline as much as I see an evolution.”

I saw some of the StL vs Sharks game late last night. The Sharks were ineffective against Hitchcock’s boys, so much so that Joe Thornton imploded a couple of times with stupid frustration penalties.
That is a great article.
Oh, and be safe, SnLO.

Only Joe is a stupid diver and goon, prone to losing his little mind when he’s not winning (see RWBill’s comment about last night).
I don’t fear the Sharks at all this season. The Wings, with home ice advantage, would take them out with no problem.

Next door to you in NC, what the Hell? What an awful, painful way to go, but if you can’t smell gasoline before you drink it maybe you’ve been drinking too much moonshine. Still, feel horrible the guy, but it’s just bizarre.

HAVELOCK, N.C. (NewsCore) - A North Carolina man died Tuesday after accidentally drinking gasoline and then lighting a cigarette.
A resident at an apartment complex in Havelock, in Craven County, called 911 Monday evening to report a person on fire, WNCT-TV reported.
Investigators said Banning drank from a jar of gasoline, believing it to be a beverage, then spit it out, getting the fuel on his clothes.
He later lit a cigarette, igniting his clothes, according to WNCT.
Police are still investigating his death.

Thornton isn’t Yzerman, Marleau isn’t Fedorov, Boyle isn’t Lidstrom, Burns isn’t Konstantinov, and Doug Wilson is sure as Satan’s left ball not Ken bleeping Holland.
Suck it, posers.

RWBill: This video just made my day and that of my colleagues stuck working on a Sunday. Thank you ![]()
And maybe this is just me, but I still don’t want to face the sharks…especially in the first round

The Sharks might win a cup or two before Pavelski, Marleau, and Thornton or done, but their time is running out. The difference between San Jose and Detroit is institutional strength, i.e. in five years the Wings will be reloading. Who will the Sharks have to turn to when their big three start greying in earnest?

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
