Detroit Hopes To Extend Their 2 Game Winning Streak Against Florida

The Wings start a stretch of 7 games in 14 days which means practice time will be tough to come by.  It will be play, rest, play, rest, etc..

So let's start with a win tonight.

I sense a feeling of confidence starting to grow and there is only one way to continue that feeling, just win.

Hopefully Franzen comes out and plays the way we know he can and Gustavsson is strong in net tonight.

Score four more tonight and the Wings should head to Philadelphia for their game Tuesday night on a three game winning streak.

It's a live blog bitches...

Gawd, I hate the gimmick!

I’d rather tie and everybody get 1 point only.

This is game on Jonas.  The FLA tying goal was bullshit.

agreed, although Nike’s pinch was ill advised

And if the gimmick were all that great then why isn’t it in the playoffs?  Because it’s not really hockey.

Gus wasn’t sharp tonight.  OWe had some lapses on D as well, but Gus should have had at least two of the ones that went in.

At least we get a point out of this.

I watched the game late and I have to say I don’t get all the Monster hate.  The way I saw it, he made quite a few saves in the first period when the rest of the team was completely discombobulated.

We had no Pav and no Z, and Mule was in his first game back after having his brains scrambled.

The second period was great for the Wings, but in the third, the Panthers just kept coming and the Wings let down. The tying goal was a direct result of a giveaway at the other end.  And then there was the terrible officiating - the disallowed goal and the incredible lack of attention when Sauce got high sticked and cut.

Granted, Gus didn’t get it done in the shootout, but did you guys really think the Wings were going to beat Tim Thomas in a shootout?  I sure didn’t.

I believe the Wings will make the playoffs.  Do I think they’ll win the Stanley Cup?  No.
My biggest concern right now is Z’s back.  If Pav and Z are going to be injury plagued, then I say get rid of the old goats (except Fred - I think he makes really smart plays and is a good model for the young ins) and let the kids get some playoff experience.  The future is bright.

CBJ choked.  Canes score three straight goals in the third to win 3-2.  Canes continue to compete with the Wings for the wild card spot.
