Denver’s In Town…YAWN

Hey. Check this out. I had no idea...

The Avs are 6-5-1 against Detroit in the Duchene era...

Want to know how your organ-I-zation has reached rock bottom?

It's when a hometown blogger (even a male hyphenated one) says that Matt Duchene, seriously...Matt Duchene, has an "era".

Denver's 8-8-something...it doesn't matter. They're sitting 13th in the West.  In all honesty, it's where their remaining 6 fans deserve to be and it's where baby Jesus wants them to stay.  So stay there they will because they're in the 9th year of a youth movement that has been less than successful.

"Did not qualify" is usually a statement reserved for Blues fans applying to Delta College in the beautiful outskirts of Saginaw, but in this case it's 4 of the last 6 dreary endings to a Dive season.

Ah well. These games used to be fun until Denver started sucking ass on a wonderfully consistent basis.

Tonite starts a four-game string of games against teams that are pure shit.  8 points would be awesome. 6 would be nifty. 5 would be acceptable. 4 is expected.

How are those lines shaping up, Mike?

It's a Live Blog, bitches.

Wonder if our Wings understand that they can no longer afford to lose the “yawn” games…

Given the record, and Babcock’s ego-centric drive to prove everyone wrong about the wisdom of his line pairings, there is no rational basis to think otherwise.

Duchene era

Seriously…..an era?  Wow.  What’s next…transgender rest rooms for the fans?

The comments on the article illustrate that not every Avs fan has guzzled the kool aide

Sometimes i wonder if the younger kids will ever understand the hatred against the Red Wings given how the rivalry continues to die down. Please, Avs, stop sucking so you two can meet in the playoffs and rekindle that old flame once more

Speaking of ego-centric drive - - Bab’s was quoted in the paper, I think during his presser today, that he thought the Pavel-Dead-Weight line was generating good chances the past few games.

I didn’t see the entirety of the past three games - - is his statement true?

Evening 19!

I’ll be catching up on this one via DVR and suffering through the Dive announcers.  Sigh.

All the same - I got a few Avs fans to wager with me.  I have coffee and lunch riding on this game.

Hope it is a good one and that we mop the ice with them.

I do not concur with his statement at all.  Any chances generated are Pavel taking the line on his shoulders and taking the blue-line himself and driving the net (you paying attention Franzen?).  Too often, even though they battle hard in the corners, they lack the same vision and are routinely out of position to accept passes for scoring chances or to sustain zone pressure.  They’re stints in the ozone are pretty short.

Ultimately, participation in the playoffs or not will hinge on these guys giving a shit.  I like the fact that White has sat the last few, and hope he is making $3 million/season somewhere else next year.  Perhaps if a few others either unwilling (Franzen) or unable (Cleary) to step up they should sit there asses down too.  I realize the need for warm bodies with the MASH unit having all beds full but as soon as we get Helm and Filppula back, sit em.  (Not including Samuelsson for the obvious).

I am a fan of Babcock but if they are tuning him out maybe it is time as well.  We like to think our NHL players are not the pampered prima donnas of the NBA/NFL but they are high-paid athletes.

Jeepers, Wally.  They are a lot better than I thought they would be this year…when they want to be.

... which, if they come back any time soon, is a distinct possibility.

There was one shift where Cleary and Abdelkader held the puck in the offensive zone to the left of the net (as viewed from center ice) for probably 15-20 seconds, worked it behind the net, back out on the halfboards, repeat.  Datsyuk skated more or less alone on the opposite side of the ice.  Twice one of the other two had the puck behind the net and could’ve gone to Datsyuk with it and, instead, chipped it back out to their dumbleganger.

Exactly, the “do good things” system of attack.  cycle down low and take perimeter shots.  Eventually one will go in.  Broke clock is right twice a day.

Aloha,  Bitches!

I have already downed two advil in anticipation of a headache coming on.

Was going to run into the Class VI from the Commissary but it is a beautiful Virginia Winter’s Evening, 36 degrees and raining, so tucked the groceries into the Ford Focus BEV and came home.  So I’m going to have to go with what’s left of the 9 year and then with the Jack that’s hidden somewhere deep on the high shelf where I only have to go in those desperate moments of dark despair.
