Abel to Yzerman

Canucks Visit Joe Louis Arena Tonight

Enough Olympic talk, enough injury talk, enough goalie talk and defensive talk too.

Focus on the game tonight, play a full game and come away with 2 points any way you can.

I said a few games ago the Wings needed 7 out of a possible 10 points and they have 3 at this point.

A win tonight gives them 5 which means they can get away with collecting at least two points while playing the two teams in Florida.

Tonight is key, Vancouver has been playing badly and the Wings will face Eddie Lack in goal tonight.

Get the power play working, get to the net and skate every shift boys.

With that, it's a live blog bitches!

Speaking of——

Nyquist Named to Swedish Olympic Team

almost no - brainer.  Another Red Wing that can play on a line with another Red Wing, or link up with 2 Red Wing defenseman?

A great call by the Swedes.

Good thinking there, Paul. I’m in complete agreement. We’ve scored a good number of goals in the last couple of games. Should be a confidence booster.

Take the two points, Detroit. Thanks, Paul.

I’m all in. Bitches.

Thank you, Paul!

With the added rest the boys got during the game yesterday, I hope for nothing more than a full 60 minutes and for them to turn these orcas into cat food.

Two points, boys. Both of ‘em.

Was looking forward to lighting up BobbyLu once again but Torts has sat around too long to let his stats against us get lost during the middle of a long season.. Missed yesterday’s game while working. Read much gnashing of teeth on your L-bee. No repeat of that tonite. Lets beat these bums on Torts return to the asylum.

No word on what kept Eaves off ice most of the third?  Kind of expected to see the news he was hurt this morning.  Glad he can keep sticking in the lineup.

Translated from the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter

http://www.dn.se/sport/os/marts-zetterberg-har-fatt-ha-asikter/Mårts:

Zetterberg has got to have opinions

Tre Kronor injury list is shrinking. Now finally Henrik Zetterberg made a comeback. It has coach Pär Mårts waited. Zetterberg is one of his most important player, and he has also been Mårts sounding board during the journey toward the Sochi Olympics.

“He has not taken out a few old men, but he and I have exchanged pictures of how we want to play, and from the discussions have some decisions grown up with me,” says Pär Mårts.

The first time Pär Mårts coached Henrik Zetterberg was in the World Championships in Stockholm in 2012, and Detroit’s 33-year-old captain made a deep impression on Pär Mårts.

- I think he is the best player I’ve coached, and then I have yet coached (Nicklas) Lidstrom also even if he really was in the zenith, then, says Pär Mårts.
What do you think is it that makes Henrik Zetterberg to such a good player?

- He has a whole. He competes all the time, and he loves to compete. He feels no pressure without being stimulated by it. He never comes with any excuses, and is almost always best when it comes. It is an amazing property, says Pär Mårts.

It was therefore obvious to Mårts to appoint Zetterberg as team captain for the Swedish Olympic team.

Translation Aftonbladet part of the interview with Nyquist -

“Chose go collegiate way”
The reason you are not seen as much in the national context is that you went to North America very early. What was it?
- Well, I chose to go the college route (University of Maine). I decided when I played with J20 in Malmo, I wanted to get the chance to both play hockey and get an education. It was a way that worked well for me.
For those readers who have not seen you so much, how would you describe your qualities as a hockey player?
- I find it hard to talk about myself that way, but ... well, I suppose I am right quick on the tubes, have good understanding of the game and is creative offensively. I really want to be good defensively too, it’s ambition.
And now, just pack your bags then?
- Well, we have three games left with Detroit and until we go it’s full focus on them.
