Admiral Ackbar, please pick up the white courtesy phone

Jeff here pinch-hitting, Chief is tending to other matters.

Detroyet have pulled off the improbable, taking 3 straight on the road; and then took a play-day in the sun on the rookies dime.  SJS played last night, this is their 3rd tilt in four nights.

Paging Admiral Ackbar, its a live blog with the bitches.

Could we just fasten Cleary to a piece of plywood and put him in front of the Joe Louis fist pull the fist on the cables and just put him out of his misery?

Can’t win em all. Good road trip.overall.

Man, what the hell was that shit?

I still want to say they played well, but god damn, could they have been any more frustrating?

I’m tired of watching a team that has to put Drew Miller and Justin Abdelkader on its top two lines.

the Sharks’ ability to shut teams out is completely because of the refs’ allowing them to get away with tons of interference, hooking, etc.

As troubling as that is (and trust me, I hate that this team essentially has four third lines), the fact that they clearly phoned this game in is really hard to stomach.

They made the game look effortless tonight.

They sure did seem to benefit more that the wings by the lax penalty calling.

I don’t agree that they phoned this game in. They played good defense, had good positioning, and they were trying to score.

They just kind of suck at things.

Most teams are sucking by historical standards.  Dallas projects to be the worst 9th place team in the post 2d Lockout Era, err, post 2005 cancelled season era.  Thanks. Gary. Ass.

Teams have 15 games to get hot and escape The Peloton of Suck.

The following are W-L records of Peloton of Suck teams necessary over the rest of the season to get to 55 points, which right now looks like a very safe qualification for the playoffs, equalling 94 points, the average finish of the Western Conference 8th place qualifier since 2006.

In reality, finishing ahead of the 9th place team will likely require several points less.  This is incest on a high level.  Only one, possibly two, of those teams that need really strong records will be able to do it because of playing each other.

With 7 home and 7 away remaining, Detroit took a major leap with 5 road wins.  Keep the foot on the gas, allowing only 2 goals a game will largely wrap up a playoff position.

Colorado, our big blood rival, 12 years ago, is about 2 games away from being officially eliminated and needs to be perfect.

So… busy day here and I just now read the last page or two of comments.  Glad I didn’t try to stay up last night - I guess.  And damn - maybe that little “spring break” (37 Coronas, piña colada, etc.) was not such a good idea.  Still, good road trip overall.  Better than any of us expected, I’ll wager.

I dread Sunday’s game.  Hawks on NBC, 12:30 start, and the horrible NBC broadcast team.  A Wings win would sure be sweet.

Yes, does the dreaded “first home game after a western road trip” still apply even if it’s 3 days later?

No news on the decision of Danny DeKeyser.  I don’t know how much he would help or hurt the Wings this season but if his NHL qualities are as good as they say he could be an important building block on the D, and worth getting now.

No update on Franzen’s upper body injury either.
