Paul here filling in for IwoCPO tonight.
In my opinion, if the Wings can leave Nashville tonight with a regulation win, they would make it extremely difficult to be caught by the Preds.
The Wings would be 8 points up although the Predators would have a game in hand.
Let’s hope the Wings play like Barry Trotz described them today, via Brendan Savage of Mlive.
“The one thing we talked about this morning is they have a tradition of winning,” Trotz said. “They are going to work. Their workers are in (the lineup) right now. What’s happening is they’re rallying as a group to come with an all-out effort. If you don’t come with an all-out effort, you’re not going to beat anyone in this league no matter what the injury situation is.
“They’re still strong in goal with (Joey) MacDonald, they’re still strong on defense even though they’re missing Lidstrom. Their. top four (defensemen) are still pretty good. They’ve got Zetterberg, who is going really good. They’ve got workers behind that.
“They play strong defensively and they capitalize on their offensive chances. They don’t have as many dangerous people but they’re still a very effective group. They play a 200-foot game and it’s going to be a lot of work and a lot of grind.”
One more thing- Mule, instead of being a worker, time to turn into a scorer again tonight.
