A Look At Prospect Quinn Hughes

from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,

Quinn Hughes came away from the World Championship enriched as a hockey player and with a fast friend in Detroit Red Wings' Dylan Larkin.

Hughes’ recent return from helping the U.S. win bronze at the tournament in Denmark is why he excused himself from Saturday’s fitness testing at the NHL combine. He’s projected to go as high as fifth at the June 22-23 entry draft in Dallas, but could also be available when the Wings pick at sixth overall.

Hughes, 18, is a dynamic skater and puck transporter, assets he showed off at the World Championship under Wings coach Jeff Blashill and alongside Wings players Larkin and Nick Jensen. Hughes held his own among men, and played in every game through a final victory over Canada. From the start, Blashill was clear about what was expected.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: wphoulihan@gmail.com
