DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings today recalled right wing Evgeny Svechnikov from the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins and assigned defenseman Alex Biega to the Griffins. Additionally, the Red Wings placed left wing Adam Erne on injured reserve, retroactive to Oct. 18, and removed defenseman Jonathan Ericsson from injured reserve.
Svechnikov, 22, has skated in three games for the Griffins this season and is tied for third on the team with four points (1-3-4), including a three-point game (1-2-3) on Oct. 5 during his first game since missing the entire 2018-19 season due to a knee injury. Previous to his injury, Svechnikov split his first two professional seasons between Detroit and Grand Rapids, notching four points (2-2-4) and eight penalty minutes at 16 games at the NHL level and totaling 78 points (28-50-78) and 131 penalty minutes in 134 AHL games since 2015-16. The 6-foot-3, 208-pound winger was also a member of the Griffins' 2017 Calder Cup championship team, in which he posted a professional career-best 51 points (20-31-51) in 74 regular-season games and 12 points (5-7-12) in 19 postseason games.
