Lonely Down By The Riverside?  Well Come On In To The Game 4 Live Blog

That’s an easy one.  Name the song.  Reports from the Stress Train are that the Hasek’s been full since noon.  Frigging lushes.  Well, this should help.  We’ve got a sponsor.

“Jules” Responds

We seem to have created an icon with the Game 1 recap.  While Osrt and I were swilling 9 buck beers at the Joe last Saturday, we kept a close eye out for the Pens fans surrounding us.  It was an experiment of sorts, just kind of observing as their mood changed from one period to the next.  In the recap, we introduced you to “Jules”.

Well, apparently, our nickname stuck.  Read below.  A classy response and a tip of the cap to the Wing fans who played host to our counterparts last week.

Lilja or Chelios?

Haven’t seen anything at all regarding Uncle Mike’s tough call on who mans the third defensive pairing with Brett Lebda tonite.  I’d like to see Chelios.  But no one’s talking much.  Kevin Allen had this to say yesterday.

A gut feeling is that Lilja plays one more game there but it is just a gut feeling, it’s hard to tell. Cheli struggled later in these playoffs and I think there was a sense that when Lilja got back in, there was a little more stability and a little less erratic play from that third pairing but that wasn’t his best game either and when Chelios has been out before and come back in, he’s really stepped up his game so there’s arguments both ways and I think this is going to come down to Mike Babcock’s gut feeling at game time.

Homer: Game-time Decision

All indications out of the Igloo are that Tomas Holmstrom is in there tonite.  Wing officials are calling it the GTD, but everyone else sounds pretty positive.

Mike Babcock: “Basically what we’re going to do is he felt quite good (at the morning skate), we’re going to come back at the game tonight, see how he feels. If he’s ready to go, he’s playing. If not, obviously he’ll be scratched.”

Holmstrom just left the trainers’ room and confirmed that he’s a game-time decision.

“It felt pretty good,” said Holmstrom. “We’re going to wrap it a little different. It looks good. It’s a game-time decision.”

MacLeod had blogged earlier, following the Wings’ morning skate, that they’d practiced as if he was going to be in there.  He was on the top line, Cleary and Maltby on the third and fourth, respectively.

Back From The Boonies

Morning all. Understand there’s a hockey game tonite.  May watch it. May not.  I’ll see if I can fit it in.  What’s happened since we last spoke?

Homer’s got a hammy.  Tampa’s got a tool.  The Wings pulled a Wilson.

And the stress train is filled from stem to stern.

An Open Post Because I like All Of You

I’ll be moving around the nation today, finally settling in North Carolina sometime this evening.  I have no idea if I’ll have connectivity there, because I’m not sure the wires connected to the still connected to the car battery connected to the toaster that’s powering the generator are strong enough to handle the whole internet idea.

So, use the comment section here to do your job and post news-related items, your juvenable thoughts, poems and recipes.  Whatever.

Hey. Weird. I’m Doing Ok.

After a regular season loss, like in December, when the Wings have already built a 15 point lead in The Division That Gary Built?  I find it very difficult to post, almost painfully so.  I’ll tell you something about myself you may not have been aware of prior to the moment of this startling revelation.

My moods are kind of dictated by the success of a certain hockey team.

So today, you’d think I’d be on the verge of stepping into traffic.

Is It Memories That Made You A Wealthy Soul…Or A Game 3 Live Blog?

I can’t be sure, but I seem to think there may be a skate on a throat somewhere in Pennsylvania.

I’m guessing it might be a good time to, you know, press down.

Hockey Night In Newfoundland

There’s a rusting steamship aground in a harbor, and draped across that ship today is a banner that reads “Go Red Wings Go.”

That’s about all I could read from Mitch Albom this morning before I threw up in my mouth a little bit. I just can’t, no matter the subject, sit through an entire column from the Delicate Genius.

But I realize some of you can.  Image of the “rusting steamship” is below.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: wphoulihan@gmail.com
