A Night At Staples

Reaction.  Great game, good crowd.  Nice arena.

Hossome.  The guy’s amazing.  Kenny?  Make it happen.  Whatever magic silly trick you have to learn.  Whichever salary cap cheat maneuver you have to develop.  Doesn’t matter.  Just get it done.

He spent all night staring down at the lights of LA…It’s a West Coast Live Blog

I’ll not be participating in the live blog, not directly.  Since I’ll be making friends at the Staples Center.

There was really no other option for a Seger-driven Live Blog was there?  That chick twisted our boy Bob in knots.  Just a young midwestern boy who headed west because we all know a little change does a world of good some times.  Next thing you know he’s whipped.  And just a minute later?

Maltby’s Happy Again…Grind Line Back Together

In front of what will probably be at least half-a-house of Wing fans, the Grind Line will reunite tonite at Staples Center.

And, oddly, Kirk Maltby has decided to speak to the media again.  You do recall he refused comment after a Saturday evening spent in the press box?  Well, he’s all miss chatterbox again.

“It’s always fun,” Maltby said. “It brings back memories whenever you have the three of us together. We’d love to be able to duplicate some of the things we were able to do back in the 90s, but we’re a little bit older and wiser. Hopefully we can use that to our advantage and have a solid game tonight.”

Catering To The Hawks

Windy City is right.

I’ve never given a great deal of thought to Chicago’s longstanding nickname.

But today it’s really ringing true.  Why?

Grinder for Grinder…And One In The Wings

Think there may be a little friction in the room right now?  Darren McCarty essentially replaced Kirk Maltby in the lineup against Chicago Saturday.

Babcock said he needs more from his third and fourth lines, one of the reasons why he sat Maltby for Darren McCarty.

It was the first time in recent memory Maltby was a healthy scratch. He was upset about it and declined comment.

Taking The 19 To Staples

Ticketmaster just informed me I have seats in the lower section at Staples Center for Monday’s game against the Kings.  I’ll do my best to represent you all in the most mature, non-juvenilistic way possible.

My track record in opposing arenas betrays that noble goal.

Leino’s Coming Up…Nevermind

Interesting day in Hockeytown as we waited for the word on the severity of Johan Franzen’s knee injury.  Bob McKenzie first reported around 1300 EST that the Mule’s dealing with a Grade 2 MCL and that he’d be out three to four weeks.

From then?  The Diggers went all crazy.

Catch as catch, catch as catch can…It’s an LA-Driven Live Blog

Updated 1733 Pacific:  McCarty in tonite.  Maltby is press-box bound.  Meech out.  The swedish appendectimonious warrior Lilja is in.

Best band to ever come out of Los Angeles?

Van Halen.  The original.

Best tune in my opinion?  Well, you tell me.  The post title includes the chorus.  I’ve loved the song for more than twenty years and always thought it was “etcha-sketch”. But I was wrong.

Palin’s A Pal, And A Few Other Ramblings

Once again, I’d like to remind you that A2Y formally endorses no one.  We’re not a political device, just a sarcastic hockey blog.  Just a simple hockey blog with no political agenda and very little concern who will lead this nation through some of the most challenging times in American history.

No opinion on that whatsoever.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: wphoulihan@gmail.com
